A video game where Finland becomes a threat to the entire world would be absolutely hilarious to play :D

Hmmm... A game where Ireland are the bad guys against the British? Now how would that work? The thought of us as evil makes everyone laugh :(

Well lots of villains seem to end up with British accents but there aren't any games I can think of where England is the direct bad guys.

But I doubt I'd have a problem shooting them anyway, well as long as they where northerners.

I live in Sweden, one of the only two countries in Europe who ALWAYS proclaim themselves as neutral/pussies during wars.
And Sweden whould make quite a bad enemy since (at least what i've heard) we are quite a likeable people.
Also you can't sound angry or "evil" while talking swedish. (-Vi ska ta över världen hihihihi!!)

So, no.
HEY! We can sound evil and...oh..wait..we cant...damn it!

OT: I find it really hard to see Sweden become a super power to pose any threat to anything.

I wouldn't mind it. I'd be quite keen on taking down a few neds.

Except that if the enemies were proper Scotsmen, the game would be too hard.

I would love to play a war game where Americans are the bad guys. Some might view it as incensitive but its pretty crappy to have Russians or Germans being the villians in games all the time.

Technically, in Modern Warfare 2, you CAN fight the Americans. Just join a multiplayer game on the team that's not American.
That works, right? ^_^

Sweden haven't been at war for over 200 years... But when we where fighting we kicked ass!
You can probably make a game of the Swedish invasion of Russia (The one there we succeeded don't mind about the other attempts)

Anyone remember that wonderful series known as Syphon Filter? An American spy basically fighting against the corrupt American Government Shadow organization trying to take him out of the game? Basically any "Spy/Stealth-based game" has people killing their own countrymen (Real or Fictitious Country) so Americans have been offing each other in games forever now.
As someone with proud, Italian heritage I'm still waiting for a WW2 game to pull Mussolini and Fascist Italy into the mix. Everybody has a hard-on for the Nazis and Japanese Kamikazis...
Hell, I might even be able to spot my great-grandfather at some point... who knows?

Theres tons of video games where you can play as the opposing faction in multiplayer. Its not the same thing as the campaign.

I just want to see a shooter where the US decides to sit that "war" out

other than that I did that when I played MW2, though really that storyline was more about shades of grey than it was about good vs evil

God, that image makes my blood boil...

I know this is for fun, but it's pretty much true, though.
Individual Americans are not questionably aggressive... although their foreign policy from 1945 on has been.

personally, I have a huge problem with any country being so beligerent.

I would argue that the "War on Terror" should have been lead by the US intelligence communities as opposed to the military.
I know it's all very well to have the benefit of hindsight, but there were serious misgivings by a lot of insightful, intelligent rationale Americans about the war for good reason.

It's just a shame that yet again the American people and the rest of the world have to pay the price of the hubris of a few in Washington.

As for the actual topic's question...

I really can't see the Irish as being the bad guys in a video game.... maybe as a spoof...

EDIT

Ok, odd game analogy... Splinter Cell, to my mind offered the best effective means of combatting the type of modern terrorists- Intel all the way.
