I could never become vegan I need meat with every meal or it doesn't feel right for some reason. My life would probably be less stressful if I wasn't always trying to find some all the time.
actually it's proven that a vegan diet helps lower stress and blood pressure

and don't think all we eat is raw carrots ... there's a HUGE selection of delicious dishes from all over the world ... even if you don't want to change your lifestyle of become vegan/vegetarian ... i really do recommend you try some vegan cuisine .. indian/japanese/african/italian ... beautiful food

What if you don't have problems with your stress, blood pressure, et. al? Most of the studies about veganism/vegetarian compare them against the general population, which makes the mostly useless. The general population eats too much meat, dairy and fat, everyone knows that. But having some yogurt every now and then is fine.

There's no in-and-of-itself reward to veganism, vegetarianism, or a diet with meat. I wouldn't do it because it's inconvenient. The best arguments for vegetarianism are environmental or ethical, not medical.

I've considered it for ethical reasons more then anything else. I do feel bad eating Chicken and Cows, especially cows. No matter how you feel about eating animals, Wikipedia Slaughterhouses it's pretty fucked up hell for cows type deal.

But, I enjoy my chicken meat and the occasional hamburger. I should go vegetarian just because I know physically it would make me feel better. something to consider maybe.

I probably wouldnt without having some sort of serious dietary issues, that said Veganism isnt necessarily healthier.
There are issues such as anemia, because Iron from plants is harder for your system to break down, osteoporosis, same reason but replace iron with calcium. A lack of B12 will make both of these worse.
There are also links between processed soy and breast cancer (in both males an females) and an estrogen like chemical found in soy is known to "feminize men" if over consumed.
Granted there are ways pretty much any kind of food can kill you, heck we can die from breathing.
it's all there you just have to do some research before going into it ... also ... the soy thing is true ... thank god soy is only a grain of sand in the desert that is vegan cuisine eh?
And a mere atom in the omnivore cuisine.
hahahaha!

of course, i won't even argue with that .. but how much of the omnivore cuisine will you ever try before you die? ... chances are not all of it ... same with vegan, there's more than enough to keep me intrigued and occupied until the day i meet that dude in the black cloak ;D
Oh, I'll have a heart attack before I try everything.

Just thought, hey, someone had to point it out. Might as well be me.

Besides... do you know how many types of bacon there are? It'll take two lifetimes (Ended by heart attacks) to eat them all!
ROTFL ... just googled it .. and woooooooooooooooah! damn .... the day they learn to clone parts of you to replace current faulty limbs/organs ... will be a very happy day for bacon lovers :p

guy1. **gaspes** HEART .. ATTACK

guy2. crap!! that's your third one this week

guy1. call ... **gasp** my doctor ... tell ... him to prepare the fourth heart ... **gasps** ... take .... dna ... from severed finger!

guy2. you want me to cut your finger off? ... oh yeah it's the future you'll just get a new one.

**fantasises** LOL

isn't the general population kind of what we're aiming for? ... if they're all unhealthy because they eat too much meat then ... the question kinda answers itself doesn't it?

I had to pause and scan for Troll when I read the OP....
It's milk and eggs *****!

Anyway, nicely placed Scott Pilgrim references aside, I'm friends with someone who's very much into this kind of thing, and seemingly because they've allergies coming out of their ears.
Mostly dairy related, I believe.

While I'm open to having the odd vegetarian dish here and there... I need my meat.

On the flip side, a buddy's girlfriend is just vegetarian... And seems to have absolutely no energy and seems incredibly crabby whenever she's clearly having another craving for meat....
No! Not that way! lol!

As in, eyeing up that Big Mac (ha! That's not realy food, who am I kidding?) something fierce.
I think if you need to, fine, knock yourself out.

I'm an omnivore and proud, though. The human body evolved that way, I like meat, although I do prefer that the animals I end up eating the meat of are raised in free range, non battery caged environments.

If my dog was forced to eat nothing but vegetable based food I'm sure that'd seriously damage his health.
It's not an easy life style choice so I'd encourage/implore anyone do to their research properly first.

Meat is far too delicious, as is milk.

oh .. and if you have no problems and you're eating meat, have no reason to become vegan or just don't see the point ... then ... carry on eating meat ... as long as you're happy no one can or should ever tell you otherwise

Meat is delicious. Meat is tasty. Meat makes my world go round.

I will NEVER go vegan. if a Doctor told me I'd die if I ate one more strip of bacon, I'd go to the grave with grease on my chin and a smile on my face.
Best answer ever.

Hell fucking no, I would NEVER EVER go vegan. Vegan = the F word in my book, or maybe even the big C. I enjoy meat WAY too much (no homo![footnote]Nothing wrong with being homosexual in my book, just saying because of how the comment sounded.[/footnote]) to ever give it up.

You don't have to go from "too much" to "none". I've known a few people who tried vegetarianism as a means of weight loss. I don't see how one could have enough self control to not eat meat altogether but not have enough to eat it in moderation.

I'm a vegetarian, but I'd never even consider going full vegan. I can (obviously) see the side against butchering animals for our own nourishment, but I see no reason against cooperating with animals for what's almost always a mutual benefit.

Oddly enough, I sometimes question/muse whether it's ethical to eat a plant like a potato (harvested by killing the living plant,) but I never question the morality of drinking milk or eating honey.

Well what I'm saying is that since humanity's the dominant life form on the planet, and one of the central aspects of our evolution was the slaughter and consumption of countless animals, it's probably best not to go ahead and screw that up.
Actually, before we got this developed meat industry, humans ate little amounts of meat per capita. Meat was hard to come by and was expensive and if you think that a regular person had lush meaty dinners every day; that's wrong. Meat was served for special occasions or only to the minority of people that could afford it. Nobody went to hunt "countless animals"; it was not so easy back then when you had to do it on your own with a bow and arrow. Meat was also kept and stored and people daily ate mostly cheap stuff that was widely available to everyone. We can safely say that most people survived on vegetarian diets with occasional meat consumption. Fun fact that I've recently came across to; gladiators [http://www.archaeology.org/0811/abstracts/gladiator.html] had vegetarian (maybe even vegan) diets in order to maintain their muscles and condition and to be as healthy as possible. I read how somebody said that vegetarian/vegan diets are not good for bodybuilding. Well, maybe not specifically for bodybuilding, but people whose sole purpose was to fight for their lives were basically herbivores, so guys, being vegetarian is not going to ruin anyone's muscles or manliness. Of course, if you do it right; just eating whatever trash you come across and not planning out your diets is not healthy. I've heard a lot of people saying how they couldn't maintain being vegetarian or vegan and then they went on explaining how they never actually ate vegetarian food; they just ate whatever was served and they would just take the meat out. Potatoes and salad alone are not a healthy (or tasty) lunch. There's tons of food that most people never heard about, let alone tasted it. And it's delicious. There's just so much stereotypes about those diets, and people are, sadly, ignoring delicious food because of those stereotypes.

I'm vegetarian by the way, and I thought of veganism, but I don't think I could do it as of now. Cheese is a part of my almost every meal and I couldn't give up on it. I won't say I'll never do it, but it's not on my priority list right now. Maybe I could do it. Once before I thought how I could never give up meat, and then I realized that the only thing keeping me attached to meat was just a plain old eating habit. Meat was never my favourite, or even near favourite food.
