It seems that very little people in this thread have played a team-based game in a competitive way.

That said, in reality, I would not. However, I do follow orders, create plans, execute well...

I would make a terrible soldier. I am a pacifist, I am too smart, I don't like brainwashing, I hate following mindless orders.

Yeah, all in all, I would be kicked out of the army.

No, I'd die several seconds into the first engagement. My idea of a good time in battlefield 2 was to play on the American team, strap multiple C4 to my jeep and then ram sand people(I forget what their faction was called) tanks while yelling AYIYIYIYIYIYIYI over my mic. Good times.

Comparing your personality in games with a real life-death situation doesn't strike me as something that makes sense.

I think the 'tough' side my being a soldier would fit me well (I've gotten several comments that I would fit in the military), but I wouldn't be the one to run happily into a bulletstorm. Don't wanna die just yet/got too much to live for.

For a gamer I'm pretty horrible at FPS games, so if that's any indication, then no.

Sir, no sir!
I fucking hate taking orders. It's just this crawling sensation in the back of my skull that I should be punching people in the face a lot. Not pleasant.

I think that I would be a good solider in the sense that I would perform well although I don't like authority to much so I would probably get kicked out for telling my CO he is an idiot.

Well in real life I already am a lieutenant. (I'm Swiss by the way, and milit. service is mandatory for all young men). But if I was a soldier and acted the same way I did in multi, I won't last more than two minutes in battle field. Not because i'm no teamplayer but more cause I charge recklessly head-on and serve as canon-fodder (which helps my team mates btu sucks for me)

My near-sightedness is quite bad, I failed the sight-test completely, so the guy at the recruitment office said "You're a danger to yourself and your co-soldiers". I don't care much whether I had to join the military or not, but I can't remember the last time both of my contact lenses fell out and the first thing that occured to me was "shoot myself and all my co-soldiers in panic".

No. I can't do things I don't completely agreee with. I couldn't be any kind of soldier.

if i was fit enough and dint have asthma yes, when i went paintballing the only time i got hit was when my team mates couldnt distinguish between the colour blue and yellow ¬.¬ (they give you arm bands to show what team your on) i also seem to have an extreme amount of luck when danger is involved so i recon i would do quite good

I'd be a terrible soldier, absolutely terrible if I acted like I do in multiplayer. In fact, I am fairly sure everyone would be a terrible soldier if they acted like they did in games because games and real war don't have much in common.

No.

I refuse to use cover in cover based shooters (It offends me), and use cover in arcade style shooters.

I think "punch that ***** in his punk face" is a valid military tactic.

I'm also really bad at Arma II.

Nope, I'd be a terrible soldier, mainly because I don't like to comply, so the first guy to get shot would probably be my drill sargent(or whatever you call those).

Warrior? Yes. Soldier? No.

How do I know this? In Basic Training, I was good at what we did, but I just got pissed off at how things went, like the lifestyle in Basic, so I left. Yes, I've heard it's different once you graduate, but I don't feel like going through that shit again. I'd be better off as a guerilla, insurgent, friendly local, or whatever the hell you'd want to call me, just not a rank-and-file soldier.

Commander: Soldier! What the hell do you think your doing!

Me: Disobeying orders sir!

*Salutes and breaks cover charging the enemy with a grenade launcher and a machine-pistol with a sniper rifle on his back*

Yea this'll end well.

So guys (and gals), would your style of multiplayer actions make you a good soldier?
I'm a careful player and I rarley risk my life or loose control so I would probably be effective if you gave me a shotgun or a sniper if you don't need full sniper training.

But directly in battle I would be good I would kill the captives, burn hosstile villages, steal stuff I need wouldn't hesitate to tourture someone for info and kill my squad leader if he pissed me off. So I'm yust a standard fucked up soldier.

If I had to go to war, I would probably be a medic. Thanks to the Geneva Convention, I'm pretty much assured to stay alive, though there is certainly danger involved.
One of the first things that they teach you as a medic is that Geneva Convention doesnt work. :p

Being Military police is pretty easy job what I have heard. Try to keep civilians from rioting and take Call of Duty players off the field.
