Hello all,

many have games whose characters hold a special meaning to us, or just have cool names. Hypothetically, I was wondering if you had a son or daughter would you name them after a video game character? If so who? Why that person?

I already have three names picked out, if a girl: Revan, if a boy Carth or Morgan

Note: yes i know the chances of me getting laid are as likely as being able to traverse mutter's spiral in a segway in time for lunch tomorrow. That is why this is a hypothetical question. So rather than reminding me of this fact, could you please just indulge me in this question

I've considered naming my child Thor or Odin. They aren't necessarily game character names, but the characters have appeared in games.

If the name happened to also be a real name, then possibly. I however prefer to pick names that I like the sound of rather than naming after someone. I wouldn't give a child a made-up name though as it would be more of a burden and could hamper work or being taken seriously as an adult.

HAHAHAHA, no.

I wouldn't want to torture my kid by naming them after a video game character.

...

Well, maybe if it's a boy I'll name him Gordon.

Damnit, why did that first post not work, then suddenly work >.>
Whatever.

Being able to shout that whenever your kid did something wrong would be awesome.

I've always been partial to having kids named Madness and Sparta, so you could introduce them like this:
"This is Madness" *points at kid A*
"This is Sparta" *points at kid B*
'oh how ni-' *kicks person in chest*

i always held the view that if they had to live normal lives then it's not appropriate
but if any of the stuff i do ever gets published or made
and i become demi-celebrity (not likely i know)
then it then becomes the right circumstance to call my kids Goku Mcsonicson and Cloud O'Lucas-sims

Yeah, as long as I wasn't naming my kid something crazy. I think I'd draw the line at "Guybrush."

EDIT: I think I'd lean very strongly towards Riddick.

I will name my first born Sephiroth

I don't think I would, and I doubt my future husband would approve.

I always liked the name Travis, then Travis Touchdown came along and showed me how awesome it would to be to name my kid Travis.

Only if the character actually had a realistic name. I wouldn't want to burden my child by naming him something stupid for my own amusement.

Didn't Robin Williams do this with his daughter Zelda? I don't think I'd do it to be honest as it could be another reason for the kids at school to tease him/her.

Buuuut...if I really had to choose then I'd choose something like Cloche from Ar Tonelico 2 perhaps (pronounced Clo-sh)

Ignoring the fact that I won't be having children, it's still a no. I'm not quite sure why. Perhaps I haven't seen the right videogame character's name yet.

Perhaps a middle name, I doubt I ever would for their first name. My kid could be named John Shepard for his first two names. Hehe.
