If you play 2 hrs per day on average, then it'd sum up to $360 per month, don't think any MMO would be worth it.

Although I generally prefer when MMOs charge you for hours spent playing rather than requiring paid subscription. Might work out more expensive if you sum everything up, but removes the discomfort of paying for a whole month and ending up playing maybe two Saturdays.
The average time an MMO player plays the game is a bit more than 20 hours a week. And this time is nearly the same time that his TV consumption is reduced.
Here is a nice study from 2005.

I would pay for :

World of Jerk-a-tron ( usb suck attachement included )

all npc people are made from pron actors and they always answer "yes" or "yes ,would that be with strawberry jelly or honey ?"

also, when lvl up, your stats dont get bigger, but some part of your body does.

Absolutely not. But unfortunately, SOMEONE will and then give other developers ideas that they can do that.

I was just discussing it with my wife and she said: "Hey, when we go to cinema at the weekend we easily pay more than 6$ per hour with popcorn and a coke. And back in time we went to cinema once per week or more if there were lots of really good films. So if you see this game as a replacement for watching a film and you do it two hours per week, why not?"
I think most of the Nooo sayers think of MMOs as something you do 20+ hours per week. You couldn't play WoW with this rate. But when it's really great and you can achieve a lot in a short time, maybe a game could get away with it.

$6 an hour? Jeez. I wonder how many people realize how fast that would add up.

Oh, I'm sure some people still would.

I remember reading about that. There was great grieve once the plugs were pulled. The community was pretty active, and I think there's still some people out there who award the game sentimental value.

To answer the question: no. I won't even pay a monthly fee for any game (damn you The Old Republic in advance...). Call me cheap, but if I bought a game, I want to be able to play it forever, not keep on paying forever.
Servers cost money. Especially when there are thousands of people on each one with you taking up one of the spots with your account.

An MMO in 1991? Was it text based or something? I can't imagine it was very good.

When looking for the new NWN MMO rumour I found the following article:
http://www.crispygamer.com/news/index.php/2009-06-09/rumor-atari-and-cryptic-working-on-neverwinter-nights-online-game/

It claims that in 1991, way before Ultima Online, there was an MMO based on NWN. You were only able to play it on AOL and in the beginning it was 6$ per hour. Later they offered it for free and there were more than a 100.000 subscribers, a HUGE number at that time.

What game is so great that you would pay 6$ per hour of play?

If it teleported in hookers, Filet Mignon, and really good cigars.
No kidding, that's insane $6 an hour? Not in a million years would I ever do anything like that. Frick I'll pull out the Role-Playing guide and play D&D old-school rather than P/P for a video-game to that extreme.

At first, I thought you were just asking a general question of would you pay for an MMO? And I would answer with the original Neverwinter Nights, but you however are one of the people who still remembers this. And my brother in college actually paid for this game when it first came out. It sucked out a lot of money from his wallet.
