God, crap like that makes me physically ill.
I've been in several gay support groups for young people and helped set one up myself. I've seen absolutely ghastly things inflicted upon people for their sexuality. A young man whose eye was gouged out comes especially to mind. I repeat: his fucking EYE was gouged out of his face. This is not to mention the more common beatings. And not to mention the emotional abuse and general alienation, but HEY.

But no, you're right, surely as a straight person clearly you're in a position to tell whether or not homosexuals suffer from discrimination. I'm amazed Lightnr has the balls to whine that another person's post offended him while saying those things.

P.S. bestiality and incest are wrong because they hurt people/animals, bestiality because it's too easy for the human to impose his will on the animal, incest because one family member is usually in a position of authority over another, but HEY IT'S BASICALLY THE SAME AS HOMOSEXUALITY RIGHT? Next up, rape and homosexuality, ARE THEY REALLY ALL THAT DIFFERENT?! The law says you can't rape anybody, therefore clearly homosexuals shouldn't complain that they etc etc etc...

The problem with games that have protagonists that aren't hetero white male is that they generally sacrifice a large amount of gameplay quality just to cram in some "HEY LOOK HERE WE HAVE A CONTROVERSIAL CHARACTER, STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND SYMPATHIZE WITH IT!!!" awareness bs.

If the game is good and it doesn't hijack the story, ok. CoD4 would be still playable if Jackson and Griggs were lovers and the rest of the game worked as normal but if all of the levels involving soap or price are removed to show off jackson's daily life as a gay then it would be very annoying.

I hate playing straight characters. I hate playing gay characters. Sexuality in games sucks. ALWAYS.

DA:O's sex scene was laugh out loud hilarious. And in Mass Effect, I avoided it. I was there to shoot aliens, not screw them. If I wanted to do that I'd go down to the club that claims to be "exotic" (immigration joke, ohh eem gee.)

While I'm a horny late-teen ******, I prefer my game characters to be asexual and stick to only plunging a metal sword into things.

I thought most main characters nowadays are pretty much asexual as there are not that many romantic/sexual themes to the story.

OT: I really wouldnt care if the main character was heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, asexual, transexual, whatever, as long as it didn't mess with the gameplay, and as long as the story isn't overly romanticised(I feel this way regardless of sexual orientation).

No I probably wouldn't to be blatantly honest. When I play a game, I want to play as an ass-kicking take-charge male protagonist, and I don't think a gay character could fill that role effictively in my opinion.

Anyways, it depends. Simply being gay wouldn't bother me, and if the gameplay was good I doubt I'd care, but if they made an effort to match the stereotypical flamboyant drama queen gay profile, it might irritate me too much to put up with.

Also what if I wanted to have sex with sheep? or wanted to have sex with my family? I am sure I could find others with the same sexual desires... So would that make us a minority being oppressed? - because laws and morals taught in school teach against those things. Should we then promote bestiality and incest? should we? I mean... I can still promote the human race THANKS TO SCIENCE (not my own abilities) and artificially impregnate a willing woman who would have my baby.... so whats wrong with bestiality and incest? Why not have a game who's main character likes to have sex with his parents and his dog??

Actually black I chose because, like sexuality, you don't choose if you're black. The Jewish one was chosen simply because it was the first religion that popped into my head.

A tad hypocritical - why's it OK to compare religion and race, but not sexuality and race? Or sexuality and religion? The Nazi's weren't exactly friendly to gays either - they've also suffered plenty of persecution throughout history.

Not to mention the fact that I'd of thought (as you clearly are passionate about the persecution of your own race in history) that being black, you might be able to understand and be more aware of the persecution of other groups. Instead, you've shown yourself ignorant by declaring yourself insulted, having blacks compared to the 'gay plight' (what a charming term).

Now on to your questionable comparisons.

Straight or gay, sex is undertaken by two (or more) consenting people. That's people; in the case of bestiality, the animal isn't consenting (there's something I never thought I'd say) so it's a form of rape - not to mention harm to the animal, harm to the person (I'd assume), etc.

An incestuous relationship is illegal because of the extreme defects that can occur should children be born from that relationship. If you'll notice, I don't think there's much risk with cousins, which is why you can do them legally.

Oh, and I don't know about your schools, but mine have never come up with moral objections to being gay, nor have they made up laws which prevent it.

Mario games spring to mind. I've never been comfortable playing either of the Bros. or Toad for that matter. I've always stuck to the masculine figures like Bowser and Donkey Kong who seem to be the only ones who clearly don't have the gay and have actually proven that by fathering children.

So I guess I'm saying I probably wouldn't buy a game with a chocolate thief for a main character. I don't know how I feel about lesbian protagonists though because I've never encountered anything of the such in a game I've played before. Throw me an example or two and I'll get back to you on the subject.

Seriously, have you ever thought how you would feel if people told you everyday that you were abnormal and you were not allowed to marry the person you love because a bunch of people who have never met you think that your love is disgusting. Stop making out that one minority has it 'worse' then others, instead unite under the fact that all discrimination is pointless and should be eradicated.
