Would you play a horrible game if you were paid to do it?

Most certainly. I've never encountered a game so bad that it could be considered more aggravating than the patrons at my current job.

I actually read an article on game testing jobs, and many folks in that field claim that the worst aspect of their job is mind-numbing repetition; you must try every single thing the game will allow you to do under all possible circumstances and camera angles, to be certain there are no bugs. Not too bad IMO.

Fuck yes I would. It would mean that I wouldn't have to do hard labor in the morning.

I'd jump at the chance, i'd love to game test crappy games. Either way once you're gone through testing a game you're going to hate it, i'd rather not hate a game i could have enjoyed.

I play games because they're enjoyable, and therefore play games that I enjoy. I wouldn't play a game I hated for money, because then it's just a job, and a crap job doing something I don't like.

What's the point.

I'd rather hook the corner and use the proceeds to buy games I like.

Well it depends on the pay. If it was say a full time job and I was working 40 hours a week for min $20 then yes I would try it out if I had nothing better. But for $10 an hour screw that, then again I wont do any job for that little amount of money its insulting. Seriously can people even live off $10 an hour, isnt that like below the poverty line or something.
I lived quite comfortably at $8.20/hour, 34 hours/week.

It's all about not spending your money poorly.

I've played through boring games just to prove a point.

Well, I wasn't too fond of Half-Life 2 or any of it's episodes and I played it out of (un)professional pride, so I'm pretty sure that I'd do it if I were to get paid.

I'd play a horrible game for pay, but not test games. Because they would break. A lot.
In fact, just look at this:

It's not exactly what I mean, but a real game tester does exactly that, TEST, not just play, and the games will obviously break innumerable times resulting in a better game and utter frustration.

Sure, I enjoy complaining. If I can get paid to do so, then that would just be wonderful.
