Would you play a horrible game if you were paid to do it?

Yes, if the hours were acceptable.

Oh by the way, minimum wage here in canada is $10.25

I would also want to be able to choose what genre of game I'm going to play

Just about every aspiring writer on this forum would kill to have a job that basically has as its description the proposition in your topic title.

Unless you're under the impression that game reviewers only play Portal, Mass Effect 2, and Team Fortress 2.

Currently no form of employment and loathe the prospect of working in any from of retail or a fast food joint. Hell yes, I would. Even a bad game might have something to keep my attention, like killing stuff. If not, the paycheck at the end of the week would be worth it.

And if Gamespot told me to lie and offer a good review, I would be discussing how they can start including bribes in my contract. Yes, I have no morals and would tell you suckers a bad game was epic if I was paid to. =P

I've played horrible games even without the incentive of cash.

If you're willing to pay me for it then I'm more than willing to accept.

I'd rather play a really shitty game and get paid rather than the best thing in the world, because if I played really awesome games at work all day it'd pretty much ruin anything I play on my free time.

Chances are I'd enjoy the games I am already playing a lot more after playing said horrible game.

I work in FQA (Functionality Quality Assurance) I get paid (amount omitted) to test video games. And while I can't state my actual opinion on any of the games I have or am currently testing due to NDAs (Non-Disclosure Agreements) I can say that I am very willing to be paid to play crappy video games. Actually I vastly prefer testing games that I hate, to legitimately good games.

I've paid money to play horrible games, so getting paid to play one would be rather nice.

I work as Quality Assurance for a third party company known as Babel media. Much like Fightgarr, I cannot state the games I'm working on. I can say that my name is credited in a Nintendo DS title known as Duck Amuck!, which incidentally misspelled my name (oh lord was I ever tempted to bug that one!). Anyways, my name will be credited in a bigger title soon enough.

It's not a job for everyone. I like the job because you're working amongst like-minded people. The games you test are rarely of high caliber. They usually range from mediocre to outright terrible. Most companies hire freelance testers, therefore job security is hard to come by. It's a shitload better than any retail or restaurant jobs.

I've worked as a cashier, *anything* where I don't have to deal with the public is better than that.

For $10 an hour, it sure beats the hell out of flipping burgers. Where I live, jobs are harder to find than Starbucks, so I would easily jump at an opportunity to score easy cash doing what I already end up doing involuntarily most of the time (play shitty games and tearing them apart).

It's also not that bad. To be able to critique a game, even a bad one, would still be contributing to someone's creative process. What you're doing is helping SOMEONE out there make their games a little less shitty.

I want your job. Where do I sign up?
I wórk as security at a medical factory, i have to walk around the site around 2 hours pr shift (shifts are about 8 hours long), but once thats done, i can more or less mind my own bussiness, as long as i react to whatever happens, but most of the time, nothing happens save a few phone calls or visitors (not teh alien kind), so i bring my laptop to work and game.

One of my friends have a job liek it where he's at a place for mentally handicapped adults, where they mind their own bussiness, so all he has do do is cook for them, and help them if they come and ask for it, but most of the time he has nothing to do either.

That guy also had a job as, i don't remember the english word for it, but the guys who move beds and patients around at hospitals, and since they always had to be enough people to handle everything when lots of stuff happened at the same time, they have quite some time on their hands when less stuff happens, so he was allowed to sleep while on the job, as long as he could get up and move stuff or give CPR when needed.

Of course I would. I'd do a lot of things for money and gaming falls under the category of 'Things that I fucking love' so heck yeah.
