Would you still eat meat if you had to kill it yourself?

I've hunted deer before. The shooting part is fun, but the dressing..... ick, im not too fond of cutting out animal organs from a carcass.

Still, venison is awesome :D

I would and have killed and prepared an animal to eat.

EDIT: Hmm interesting.... The responses have given me reason to ask this question too...

Does this mean most hardcore gamers are all natural born killers?
Or we all just hate deer and turkey...

yes I could not live with out bacon. Now excuse me while i go kill a small defenseless animal to feed my bacon addiction.
Bacon is a process. You don't just kill a pig, cut him up and instantly have bacon. You have to cure the belly meat, either with salt or in a brine of really salty water, and the smoke it. Then you have have to actually cook it, since all the smoking does is preserve it and give it flavor. Ham is prepared the same way.

If you want "Canadian" bacon, you do it to the back meat instead of the belly (ham and Canadian bacon are not the same thing).

Yep. I am an awesome cook, and I like to kill things, I don't see why this can't be the perfect match.
Well this works out great for you its a healthier way of doing both of those hobbies... though, you do plan on killing animals right? heh heh...right?

I eat a lot of food that I kill and prepare on my own. Hunting is bitchin'.
And, note: I hunted for a long time before I became a "Hardcore" gamer.

In a very general way I'm going to say no.

This is the result of the assumption that all non meat related foods would still be readily available in the local supermarket, and I'm far to busy to be spending hours a day hunting for dinner. If all I had to do was walk up to my chosen meal for the day and shoot it in the face (and someone else was wiling to do all the actual work of butchering it) then I'd still include meat in my diet.

Nothing to do with morality, I just can't dedicate my time to slaughter just yet.

Not really, just because I have things I'd rather do than prepare food from scratch all the time.

Unless, of course, you would also have to grow and harvest your own vegetables in this scenario. Then it makes more sense to be a carnivore.

I would rather hunt for my family and myself though then you get into issues with there being enough wild life going around for everyone. I can see big big problems because of that.

And being a video gamer doesnt = pro shooter/hunter, its not the same...not even close.

It's all part of the fun of it. Nothing validates me as a man like blowing the face off a creature smaller than myself from a range of 100 yards.

When I'm done hunting and playing golf during the day, I'll take my 500 kilo stag home and leave it partially skinned (I got bored)and dripping on the kitchen counter for my wife to finish off and cook after she gets in from a busy day of a bread-winning as a corporate lawyer. I'll just nod to it as I sip my beer and watch the second episode of Gossip Girl.

Well it would depend. If I had to suddenly start killing for my food I would be hesitant at first but it would become easier as time goes on, but if had always been the norm then I would have no problem with it at all.

Ive seen animals killed before, and I have gone hunting once or twice. Granted I haven't eaten what Ive killed, but if I was hungry I don't think I would hesitate.

Yes. It's probably even better just because you did it yourself. I've always found that the most satisfying cookies are made by myself, even if they aren't the best tasting.
