Warn them, then escape. I didn't do anything to hurt them and I shouldn't be forced to choose sacrificing myself just because it's the greater good or whatnot, there's far too many humans about anyway. At least in a random situation like this. I'd be more apt to help some situation in which doing so wasn't automatically instant death for the sake of what we'll assume are adult randoms.

Young kids falls down into the subway tracks while playing about. Assume he's okay, aside from some bumps/bruises and there isn't/he hasn't touched any power rail or is that ignorant. I'd definitely help him out, even if there was a good chance only he would be able to evade being hit by an oncoming train.

Actually, I change my answer to this. The instant death part is what I was more or less going for. It is instant death. Now if it was something like a bomb was going off and I could run or help a person escape and possibly get out, thats a different story. Help the person.

I'll give you the situation. You are in a room with 4 strangers. A grenade is thrown into the room in one of the corners. You are right by the window. Now there are only two possible options, would you save yourself by diving out the window, thereby damning those individuals to be blown up. Or would you dive on the grenade to save these strangers?

First off, I want to lay down some ground rules. No matter what anyone says I don't want people ripping their choice. I just want to delve into the mind of other individuals to see what their reasoning is behind the choice they make.

I would dive on the grenade. Now obviously if I were in this situation my instinct would cause me to hesitate, however, I believe that in the end I would dive on the grenade. Self-Preservation would tell me otherwise. However, I've always been a greater good kind of guy. And if I can go out and save the lives of 4 others, I believe that to be an honorable death (or at least something like that).

Edit: To Clarify, I understand that there are more than two options. I'm simply saying if these were the only two options present. It's a hypothetical people and you are breaking my balls : P

one of the guys thats gonna die anyway should probably jump on the grenade to save the other 2.


i mean if there wasnt a window or it was too far to get to it before the grenade exploded then id jump on it, i mean sure why not, im dead anyway.

I don't think my first thought in the heat of that moment would be to throw myself on it. My mind doesn't really work that way, I'm more likely to try and push everyone back as far away from it as possible and go with them.

But if we're going for the whole "there's miraculously only two options in this complex situation" crap, I'll go with jumping out the window. I don't know these people or whether I would judge my life more worthy than theirs based on their actions. Imagine sacrificing yourself for several people only for them to actually be complete assholes, or worse, serial killers or something.
