I'm interested though.fare777 said:Umad?Daystar Clarion said:Ah shit, the fucking furries will be all over this.
No but seriously, it doesn't have to appeal to furries, afterall they write or draw on the subject of anthropomorphisism, not nekos, inus, etc.
Neko is the japanese romaji for "cat," Inu is for "dog." "Jin" means person. So, the word neko-jin means cat-person. Inu-jin means dog-person. Both of these fall under the category of kemonomimi, literally meaning "animal ears." Kemonomimis are not furries, either. They are essentially just people with animal ears and tails. Usually nothing more. Now, furry fandom is much different. They're anthropomorphised animals made to look human. Two different concepts that don't go hand-in-hand and anyone making a knee-jerk reaction against furries (not you, quotee; I'm speaking towards others in this thread) are really just displaying ignorance of the subject and anger towards a fandom that is irrelevant to the subject at hand.syrus27 said:I googled the word "inus" and got a tonne of japanese porn and corgi dogs, wtf does that word mean?fare777 said:not nekos, inus, etc.
Dude, have you ever seen an EEG (Electroencephalography) recorder? They're not that huge, and a CT scanner works on a completely different method than the EEG recorder does. (I'm a radiograph-student, I think I'd know a thing or two 'bout it). I'm serious, you can measure brain activity with a headband-sized gadget using EEG principles. The CT scanner is something you'd use if you need to know every little detail about every nook and cranny inside the brain and get an image of it.maninahat said:Am I the only one who thinks this is all bullshit? How exactly does a headband "detect brainwaves" and "concentration"? If it was that easy to minaturise this shit, why are CT scanners the size of vans?
Oh! Only in America! What a bunch of crazy weirdos. Only they could do anything something like this!Ladette said:That's already been done, and America beat them to it!randomsix said:ITS ADORABLE.
But I would still rather have an actual cat perched on my head.
Tell Japan to call me when they invent that.
Shinto is animism and thus all things contain a spirit or 'soul'. It is not uncommon in Shinto myth to have athropmorphic animals, as well as people becoming animals. Also, Kami (gods) are not adverse to appearing as, or through, animals, such as the Kami, Inari's relationship with foxes. Additionally, via China, Japan has the Zodiac Animals which define personality via animal archetypes. But hey, in the quest to make Japan look like the weirdest country on earth, we can waive any understanding of cultural relativity in order to do so.mireko said:I don't agree with the his comparison either, but aren't Shinto gods generally depicted as being humanoid?Daystar Clarion said:And since when have gods been humans?werewolfsfury said:well it kind of is since ammy is a goddess in wolf form.Daystar Clarion said:How exactly? That's like saying it's ironic that I own a dog.
i think this is pretty cool though maybe if the could make a cap with dog ears...

[sub]Obviously that doesn't have too much of a bearing on the character in Okami.[/sub]
Yeah sure. Inu means 'dog'. You Googled it and only got images of dogs. Even changing the 'i' in 'inus' to an 'a' gets only pages of medical diagrams and images. Where ever you searched, it certainly wasn't Google.syrus27 said:I googled the word "inus" and got a tonne of japanese porn and corgi dogs, wtf does that word mean?fare777 said:not nekos, inus, etc.
You're not actually 'controlling' it.Reincarnatedwolfgod said:it strange but am impressed that it can go up with the power of your mind. if only they could now use this theologically for something more useful then cat ears. over all i seen stranger stuff from japan so i will approve of this
