He tells me that i can't raid unless i have vent. Guild rules and all. I was pissed. After a huge blow out between us i get removed from the guild and put on ignore. Our guild wasn't even that good. We did naxx full clear 10 man once.

His guild rules he was in stated he needed vent or he can't raid, he said he had a blow out with the Guild Leader cause he couldn't use vent and wasn't allowed to raid (he did not say kicked out just yet). Then after the blow out (key word is after) he was kicked, and he didn't say what the blow out consisted of (he co

Deaf people aren't allowed to perform in competitive events requiring verbal communication now. I see no problem with that.
its cool to discriminate

Wait what ... since when are random humans worth anything?
The kid wasn't being kicked from the guild, the kid wasn't being allowed to raid.

Raiding can take hours and one person can fail it for everyone and waste 25 people's time.

1 screwing up for 24 .. THAT's the definition of selfish ..
O_O someone read that little fact that he said he wasn't allowed to raid, had a blow out with the guild leader and then was kicked. Yes someone else knows how to read the whole thing and not skim.

Also we should let the deaf people fly planes, and the people who are legal blind. it's only far
NOTE that I've been leaving the deafness out of it.
It has less to do with being deaf than it seems.

If someone can't use vent 'cos their computer won't install it, they won't be allowed to raid either.
If someone can't use vent 'cos they can't afford a mic, or their computer's soundcard is broken, they won't be allowed to raid either.
I know but everyone is jumping to the kids side because he is deaf. And not being able to raid and fighting about it got him kicked and he crying.

Yep, I like to see you fly a fighter plane if your legally blind. He didn't ban the guy for being deaf, he just said he can't raid. The deaf guy said he had a blow out then was blocked, so he must have done something to cause it.

But it's cool to takes sides without hearing a story huh ;)

You dont need to be able to hear to perform in a game that uses a point and click interface. For that matter, you don't need to be able to see very well, seeing as Im on the DoW2 leaderboards :)

My comment was more about the politics. People are all just paying to play a game for fun. Yet still people need to form guilds, and form some hierarchy to try and feel important. Like a friend of mine was in an amateur orchestra where no one got paid yet still heavy politics ensued.

That's why I'll never play in any MMO. Especially one that requires people to form into groups. Why the hell should I follow anyone's lead? Are they getting a higher wage than me? Are they my boss? What authority do they have such that I should follow what they want me to do, or apply to their guild? It's just some guy strokin' himself with non-existent power, and other people gettin in line to take it.

"Applying to Guilds"
"Fired from Guilds"

Ha.
This deaf guy wants to get even he should go make his own guild. Don't get sad, get mad, and then go excel at the game in your own way without the other bunch of losers.
Marry me. :p

More seriously, you couldn't've come closer to my own thoughts if you were reading them in an open book.

You seemed to have ignored what I said happened between the guy and guild leader.

He tells me that i can't raid unless i have vent. Guild rules and all. I was pissed. After a huge blow out between us i get removed from the guild and put on ignore. Our guild wasn't even that good. We did naxx full clear 10 man once.

Going by the deaf kid's post in this order
1)He was told he couldn't rand unless he could use vent
Guilds have rules and some guilds require you to use vent, others do not. I don't know why he just didn't leave and look for one who would let him go without vent. It's the Guild Leaders guild and he makes the rules. If you can't wear a shirt for some reason and you go into a store, they can kick you out because they don't allow service without a shirt

2)He was mad and had a "huge blow out" with the guild leader
What was the fight about, what did the Guild Leader say and what did the deaf kid say. See it's his word only and he could be lying (it's not hard to do on the internet). So because of a unknown fight he was put on ignore.

He didn't say he was kicked due to being deaf, he was not allowed to raid and was then kicked after a fight about it.

I'm not going to argue your oversimplifying, just know that there's much more to the game than you've gained knowledge of.
And with this being the representative, I will find bliss in my ignorance.

thats great. now we have an actual guild that dosent hate people for being diffrent. unlike how ive seen on here. with this type of attitude ive seen i sure wont be giving blizzard any of my money for a subpar MMO where 99% of its players think theyre the defenition of perfection

You mean after crying about getting kicked from a guild? You do know you complained about competitiveness with people, yet your glad the guy made a guild after crying getting kicked from a competitive guild, which he will try to compete with the guild that kicked him most likely.

WoW is turning a bit into politics and religion.

Don't talk about it at the dinner table.

"OH YEAH?! WELL, MY GEAR SCORE IS..."

It's one of those things that some people take very seriously, and others not so seriously.

Some people are incredibly religious, and others keep religion very separate from their family/social lives.

Some people watch Political News Stations or Shows all the time, and debate/argue with their peers about what CNN said, or what Fox News said. And other people simply want nothing to do with politics.

And some people treat World of Warcraft like it is their life, and play the game as such, and other people treat it like a game.

Like it was stated, some people do things differently, and perhaps they enjoy it that way.

It's also interesting to see the moral conflict: "No, you should have let him stay, look at what this guy's been through," and "No, it's like a team, if that person can't pull his weight, he shouldn't be on the team."

In a Survival situation, and this doesn't perfectly to the story, but does fit with what I'm trying to say; If you have a group of 10 people, and one gets crippled (lost of senses, broken bones, disease, etc.), the nine left will feel that they should not abandon a comrade because of a moral, but do know they will not be able to survive or will be slowed down significantly by keeping this crippled person with them. What will they pick? The noble action? Or the action that will save the lives of the nine left?

According to this little Life-or-Death scenario, if there is a person who can no longer help the group, they will be cast aside.

However, the situation in the thread is not Life-or-Death.
The guy couldn't raid any more. He could have accepted that, perhaps stuck with his guild while he looked for a less serious one to raid with, and he could have raided in one guild, and been with his friends.
But, as some people have pointed out, the letter doesn't state what CAUSED the blow out, but does state that the author was pissed. So, more than likely, the reason for his ban from the guild was not that he was deaf, but that he made a choice to start a fight. I can understand what he must have been feeling, but there was a better choice to have been made.

I'm probably rambling, and if any two (or eight) parts don't make sense, tell me.

With the limited information available, I'd have to come down on the side of the guild for this one. Despite what you may think, being able to effectively communicate is pretty damn important and typing doesn't cut it sometimes. I see no reason why the deaf guy couldn't go on raids that the guild ended up beating and putting on farm status, but he would have hurt the progression team.

Now, being deaf shouldn't justify kicking someone from a guild. And it seems in this case it didn't. Read "He tells me that i can't raid unless i have vent. Guild rules and all. I was pissed. After a huge blow out between us i get removed from the guild and put on ignore. Our guild wasn't even that good. We did naxx full clear 10 man once."

I have this habit of taking whatever story someone tells me about whatever happened to them and knocking it a few notches towards them looking worse, since most people like to paint themselves in the best possible light, especially when it comes to drama. So, when I read that, I see "He tells me that I can't raid unless I have vent. Guild rules and all. I was pissed. After bitching at him and starting a fight, I get removed from the guild and put on ignore. Insert an unnecessary petty stab at them for further self-justification and ego soothing." That last line is kinda important as it clues me into a bit of his personality.

So yeah, I think that headline could be misleading as far as what really happened. He probably didn't get kicked for being deaf(hell, they were fine with him being deaf). A more accurate headline would most likely read "WoW Player kicked from Guild for Raging at Guild Leader."

Or I could be completely wrong and the guild and guild leader are cock munches. The saddest part is how many people will accept this guys testimony as 100% true without an inquisitive thought entering their head. At least he gives a great example of how easily it can be to manipulate people using common media methods.

edit: also, as is important in any drama related to WoW, chat logs, chat logs, and more chat logs. If there are no chat logs, your story is pretty much open to interpretation.
