Using that logic though, certain pokemon would be Uber-powerful because they'd have almost no weaknesses...

Besides, even creatures of the Dark are afraid of spiders...

As for other craziness in that game... Well for starters, you can just break into anyones house at any time of the day, you constantly eavesdrop on people, if you don't want something you just throw it away (littering much?), and 7 year-old children are allowed to roam the Earth and basically rule it by age 10 using super powerful monsters from the depths of hell...

Also reasons why I love Pokemon...

Bug being super effective against Psychic. Just why?
Because they had to make Parasect good for something, lol.
well psycic types use moves like Confusion to mess with other pokémon's minds and since bugs tend to be one of the more stupid kinds of life, psycic won't do much damage.
but it doesn't work both ways: Psychic does not do less damage against bug. It's only that bug does more damage against psychic.

I thought you were going to question the 5000 new Pokemon they added, not the game mechanics that have stayed the same for the longest time.

The real question is why can't pokemon who should be able to naturally fly or swim unable to do so without an HM?
The same reason why Doduo and Dotrio can learn Fly: because derpity-do.

Pokeballs and PC deposits work for a simple reason... They turn to data.

Pokemon and Digimon are the same thing!

Pokemon just got retarded when they started giving pokemon two different types, and when they added more types. Also, the pokemon's colour used to relate directly to it's type. Generally, if they were blue they were water type, red for fire, and green for grass. Now it's just anything goes. And yes, that annoys me.

AT high enough pressures, water can cut steel. So really, Water should be super-effective against all types.
Your argument is invalid sir.

Shoot a high pressure water cannon at a boulder or another rock and see what happens.

I always wondered why water wasn't super effective on steel.

the thing that doesn't make sense is ground is good against ghost, lol.
*sigh*

Ghastly is also part Poison. Ground does regular damage to pure ghosts. However, most ghost types have Levitate, so Ground does nothing.

So... you hated it at the very first game?

Who cares...? The games are fun. Water vs rock doesn't make sense, and as for bug vs dark... well... bug needed to be good against something and dark needed a weakness? As for surfing, well, this would make even less sense:

HOW THE FUCK DOES A POKÉBALL WORK!?!?
Shrink ray tech put into a small ball that runs on batteries, please do not let your pokeball's batteries die while the pokemon is inside we are not liable for your mistakes.

Water will erode rock and earth. You've heard of a little something called the Grand Canyon, yes?
That was manmade, Lincoln made it in the civil war to confuse the confederates.

Mt. Rushmore is the natural one, geez you kids, someone has to learn ya this stuff, it?s important.

EDIT: Bug vs dark think firefly vs dark, firefly makes light. WIN!

It's more fridge logic [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FridgeLogic] than gameplay mechanics.

Also, why isn't the world littered with the thousands of wasted pokeballs that didn't catch anything? It's not like you retrieve them or anything.... on the subject. Why does not capturing something make the ball unusable?
Capitalism, my good friend. That ball-making company would go out of business if he made them reusable. The (unseen) factories would close down and people would loose jobs. And then there would be no one with enough money to be able to afford to loose to the player so he can buy more pokeballs.

I always thought that one made the most sense. Most bugs over the millenia have formed a hive mind, where all experience what one experiences, and no one can think on their own, such as ants. Psychic works on the mind, so it simply wouldn't work on a non-solitary sentient mind.

Water > Rock: Erosion
Bug > Dark: Bugs can see in the dark, y'know.

Type balance is just that, a way to balance the game to prevent any one type from becoming too ungodly powerful (hello, first-gen Psychic types!). How the type charts actually work is based not only on physical RL relationships, but is also based on myths and folklore, particularly that of the Japanese.

As for everything else, it's a video game, so Rule of Fun [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RuleOfFun] is in full effect. Why can a Hoothoot carry a teenager across the country? 'Cause it has wings, duh.
