OT: They both suck. I like the Wii's online system because I don't have people screaming at me, and the only time I've ever wanted to have that ability is when I have to quit a game and want to apologise. Yeah, that's right.

Personally I don't think either crowd is more juvenile, it just comes down to what you may or may not have experienced with either console. Every console has its juvenile douchebags, its calm, mature users, and everything in between.

The problem is not one XBL has alone or PSN, if you give someone a service which can host voice conversations quickly they will trash talk, in the olden days online trash talk was in the form of written messages which could get you killed if you timed them wrong, we now have insults on the go. A bit of Trash talk isn't really a bad thing though, it can get you in a fun mood for a game or be a bit of a joke between teams, people just get far to into there games now, if you're not having fun you're not playing it right. If you're playing it religiously you'll have to realise someone's going to beat you one day and it's best to accept your loss with grace.

I of course take only the return fire approach and don't let it wind me up, though copying other peoples clan tags on Call of Duty can bring some really humorous 'heated' discussions.

the reason people think this is because if you want to talk on PSN you have to have a mic, and not many people will pay for a mic only to insult people. the 360 ocmes with one, meaning every tom, dick and harry with a 360 has a mic. if both came with/out a mic then it'd be simmaler.
