Why does someone with a sexy TV have to get a PS3? Honestly, I have a SWEET TV and I have a 360 and it looks FUCKING AWESOME. It should be about the games.Davey Woo said:OK They both do pretty much the same thing
If you have a sexy TV, a shit load more money to spend, or it is a birthday/christmas present. Get a PS3.
If you don't have such a sexy TV, and have less money, then get a 360.
It's also worth stating that there are more retards on XboxLive than there are on PSN.

I like the xbox.
No matter how many times it breaks, I can fix it easily for no charge.
Congratulations you just did the most stupid thing on the escapist after saying first on a ZP and posting a VS thread... /Sigh read the opKing CoN said:360 - Better games, better online, better looking.
PS3 to me is just a bluray player with an internet browser.
You know, a PC gaming pad, that isn't an Xbox pad...for games like...I dunno, Assassin's Creed or Crysis or something, if you play them on PC.Hannibal942 said:PC controller?UberMore said:Vandineo said:I am going to get one and i cant decide which one.
Please recomend which one but GIVE A REASON, this is not a argument.
If you have a PC controller (not Xbox) and a friend comes round, you should be able to use the PC controller on the PS3 (as ar as I know, I've only tried it with a Logitech USB controller).
But as for the OP, I say get what ever system your friends are playing most. Both of the system's exclusives are pretty awesome, but hell, what do I know. PC master-race ftw.
I mean the PS3 is only really worth it if you have a sexy TV. Because it needs the HDness.TPiddy said:Why does someone with a sexy TV have to get a PS3? Also, there are retards everywhere. There are more retards on Live because there are more people on live. I hate both of these anti-360 arguments, especially considering there are much better pro-PS3 arguments one can use.
Hmm, I suppose back when the PS3 was about $500 this would have made more sense. I think with the price drop, even if you don't have a good TV or sound system a PS3 is still a good deal. I've never actually hooked a PS3 up to my TV to find out what it looks like, but I've been to other friend's houses whose TV's weren't quite as SWEET, and I can't really see much of a differenceDavey Woo said:I mean the PS3 is only really worth it if you have a sexy TV. I guess the flames weren't high enough for you because you decided to stoke them. I'll try not flame when presenting my counter points to your arguments:GonzoGamer said:Wow the flames aren't that high in here.
Whatever you do don't base your decision on the headset or controller (as many seem to apparently) as it's the cheapest/easiest thing to replace.
I was asking myself this question a year and a half ago and I bought a ps3.
Why? Mostly the rrod. However the new "Jasper" model isn't supposed to brick.
The other reason: while you've seen a lot of people here say the 360 is cheaper, that's only true if you plan on getting the very basic one and don't plan on going online. I wanted a wifi console with a hard drive and I didn't want to pay for online (I already pay Time Warner for that) so I got the ps3. At this point the differences between online services aren't very different: at least not different enough to justify a regular bill
Also bluray had just won the format war and I had just gotten a hdtv, so I went with the ps3.
What it really comes down to are the games.
If there's any exclusives you really want, go with whatever system has them. The good thing is that all the must have games this gen have been multiplatform.
One final comment (and this is not intended to fan flames, just an observation): how old are you? I find that more gamers my age are playing ps3 while more of the guys I know with 360s are teens and younger college guys. However, you may not want to base your decision on that unless you wear a headset. I'm not saying you wont get obnoxious 8 year olds on psn, just a lot fewer. But I'm guessing you probably realized this already by seeing how many caps only posts raving about the 360.
Yea, I was actually hoping that last comment was tactfully worded enough not to fan any flames. But it is relevant when deciding what console to buy.TPiddy said:I guess the flames weren't high enough for you because you decided to stoke them. 1. The controller is a key component of any system and yeah you can replace them but with what? You can't use a 360 styled controller on the PS3 and vice-versa... if you don't like the feel of a controller, like I don't with the PS3, there's nothing I could replace it with that would make it better. Controller feel and comfort is an important factor in your gaming decision and it's one that I think 360 wins on.
2. "All the must have games this gen have been multi-platform" is very opinionated. Halo 3 is a 360 exclusive that has sold in the nieghbourhood of 10 million copies to date. Sounds pretty must have to me. In fact, the best selling titles for each system are exclusives. LBP, MGS 4, Halo 3, Gears of War....
3. What age are you that you feel that more people your age have PS3's? This is all relative. It could be that more of your friends have PS3's and as such are more your age. Also, the PS3 is more targeted towards a hardcore gamer and they tend to be older. I have dozens of people on my friends list that aren't 12 year olds or college frat boys, that's a generalization of the console.
I really can't counter your point about 360 fanboys typing in all caps... it happens, but it's definitely not a true representation of the audience. However, I am a 360 fanboy that does not do so. I prefer to beat people with facts and logical arguments rather than shouting and your mom jokes.
Neither. Go build yourself a PC.Vandineo said:I am going to get one and i cant decide which one.

Yes, tactful and insightful.GonzoGamer said:Yea, I was actually hoping that last comment was tactfully worded enough not to fan any flames. But it is relevant when deciding what console to buy.
1. First of all, I totally agree that controller comfort is important but controller preference is completely a matter of opinion: personal preference if you will. Also you're wrong about the selection because if you check out Amazon, you can find exact xbox replica controllers for the ps3 (some of them are actually good; I have one just for my xboxing friends/family) just as you can find ps3 style controllers for the 360. Most of them are actually cheaper than the 1st party controllers too. Do you really think all the 3rd party peripheral manufacturers would overlook that market? Hell, if they did, I would start one just for that.
2. That's funny because most of the people I know feel that most of the 1st party games from Gears to Killzone are a little overrated. The ones that really live up to (or over the) hype are multiplatform: Fallout 3, Saints Row 2, and (while I'm not a fan, it is huge) cod. Trust me, if that wasn't the case, I'd already have a 360 too.
3. This as I said, was just a personal observation. Most of the gamers I know who are my age tend to have ps3; not all of them mind you. Most of the 360 owners I know (not all mind you) are younger guys: nephews, younger cousins. I also built this on what I hear through headsets. On the 360 I tend to hear more high pitched voices.
Just an observation, but it looks like you kind of noticed it too. Besides, TC might be a teenager. That comment might very well have swung him in the 360 direction.
How's that: tactful enough for you?
It's just a warning, and then I gave my opinion and recommendation.Woodsey said:snip
