You know, i dont like to brag, but I knew the Slim was going to RROD because of it's design.

It makes me wonder though, why did the re-design it? The sales where probably running well so there was no need to bring out the new console..

ok so let me get this straight, neither the new xbox or the new ps3 come with HD cables as standard? then why oh why do all the new games have the teeniest tiniest writing, only readable on HD tv's? this has been a pain in my arse for a while now, i, like many others have a standard def telly and we are constantly getting the short end of the stick when it comes to actually being able to read the damn writing on the screen. I'm so glad the companies release demos of their games because i can get a heads up on whether i will be able to read the script or not, i have always said that companies shud put a warning on the back of the box like 'This game has been optimized for high definition television sets. People useing standard definition sets might have trouble reading the in game script' something like that. i'm also thankful for second hand games too, i dont want to spend full price on a game only to find i cant play it when i get home and have to trade it in losing half the value. game companies make the script small so you buy a HDTV, sony and M$ dont include HD cables so u have to spend more and more.

Not really my phone does not have any moving parts while it is on. In fact the only thing that does is my iPod that I carry around with me. .
..yet my old CD Walkman used to go jogging with me and never skip or scratch discs, despite having numerous moving parts... and that was 10 years ago.

The tech is there to avoid it.
Yes, yes it is. It exists in laptops, so why not xbox 360s?

So many people on this forum are really smart, intelligent dudes and dudettes (such as yourself miracle) but when it comes to the 360, you all seem to a have a big, soft, daft spot for it.

The problems with 360's are infamously legendary and yet you all accept it and get another, when (I chose "when" 'cos "if" just doesn't capture it) they brake.

If a phone or car or something else had a problem like this it would be made an example of and rarely bought but how many people are on there 3rd/4th/5th 360? Or how many disks have been eaten?

Just strikes me as odd, every time I consider getting one I think "nah, it will only brake and I will be out of pocket and missing a console for a week or two".

I think the important word their is Walkman. That is made to be moved around with you. I see you point but a 360 or any console is not supposed to be moved it is supposed to be a stationary object. The fact that it is probably cheaper to make them with this flaw will make it so that they will always be made with this flaw. The electric engine has been around for over a 100 years yet be still used the fossil fuel engines. Just because something better is there does not mean it will be used.
Then you're ignoring when people mention no such problems with the PS2, PS3, Wii or GameCube, or for that matter, the Xbox, only the 360 has this problem, and it's worse with the S.

The Apple doesn't fall far from the tree though. The same people who buy their 4th 360 are the same people who prefer a controller to keyboard and mouse for shooter games.

Also... it does not ship with ANY HD connectors. That's right, you have to buy another cable separately if you want HD gaming. Thankfully Micro$oft have, in their wonderfully generous and altruistic company, boxed these two cables for us in a handy package costing 25 euros.
no system comes with hd connectors.

In fact xbox used to come with 6 prong component cables where ps3 never did.

So it seems they're going the PS3 route of keeping everything separate so you have to pay for everything. Can't say I'm surprised.

So it seems another Microsoft console has major problems. You'd think that they would learn after the first time they released a console with many hardware flaws.
WTF are you on about? You don't have to pay for everything with the PS3, everything is included. If you want an extra controller you pay for that... that's about it. Oh, and games of course. If you have a sound system with optical in you already have a cable, and for HDMI, the new ones included it anyway, and when they didn't they were less than $10 from Monoprice.

The second problem was one I myself had. The component AV cable does not support HD, and it is cynically designed in such a way that a piece of jutting plastic blocks you from using a HDMI cable at the same time.
Wrong wrong wrong. You dont need to hook up both the AV cable and the HDMI cable. You just need the HDMI cable and all will be fine.

Once again, Microsoft has taken two steps forward and back-flipped off of a cliff.

Mine is working perfectly thank you for asking. I'm very happy with it, good looking and quiet is a mouse.

Besides, if you have a warranty, don't worry about it bricking.

Only people that don't do anything else really need to worry.
If it has an RDoD it hasn't failed, it's just protecting itself, so your warranty won't cover it. Plus, having to buy an extended warranty for a product is silly.
What? Microsofts warranty have always coverd RROD? That haven't changed as far as I'm aware.

The PS3 comes with a hard drive, a controller, a power cable, and a standard AV cable.

Everything else you need to buy. With the possible exception of the hard drive, which you can replace with your PC hard drive if you ever feel like it.

HAHA! I thought about getting a new slim, even though my old 360 has yet to get the RROD. I was thinking that these new ones don't have a chance of getting it, but I was wrong. I'm sticking with my old white one that hasn't died yet.

You're also ignoring my comment on it not being a true problem with the console it could be worked around and the tech is there. It is Microsoft having a greedy business model and passing it onto the consumer. So if you buy a 360 you either live it and work around it or complain or don't buy it. If Sony want to make their consoles indestructible it is up to them and if Nintendo want to make theirs reliable then it is up to them but if Microsoft want to shoddy technically flawed consoles then it is up to them. I would also like to point out I do actually own a Slim and have moved it with a disc in it and the disc is fine. Granted I install my games and the movement was slight but no one in their right mind moves a console or anything like that from standing to vertical with a spinning disk in it. Regardless of if it doesn't usually break it. May as well throw Fairy Liquid on the disks to see if that cleans them.

Also those systems don't spin with the same rpms as the 360 does.
