I like them, I don't usually go out of my way to get them, but I love it when that little sound plays, and the pop-up shows, it's a nice little bonus.

I like the gamerscore, and the way the system keeps track of every game that I've played, and that I can access all this info online, it's just a nice, neat system.

If a game is released on both platforms, I'll usually get the 360 version over the PS3 version, because the achievement system is a lot more interesting than the trophy system.

I think achivemtns are great. And when i comes down to a title i can have on the ps3 and 360, i always pick 360, because i want every cent worth of my game.

Achiments are the only thing keeping Challenges in most games alive. I never bought a game that was to hard to beat, and thats fine, but i like how there are achivments that range from easy to TO hard to get, on 1 disc.

Right now i'm trying to get many Warhammers 40k; Dawn of War 2 Achivemtns on my pc game, because they shox up on my 360 gamerscore, which is cool.

It's also asking me to get out of my confort zone and try diffrent play styles.

Like the one achivment "Beat a mission just using ranged weapons" I'm used to going mostly melle, so trying to get this was a fun test for me, hence more enjoyment out of my game

I don't care about achievements, but I have a friend that does. We were playing Rock Band 2 and had the cheat to unlock all songs activated. I wanted to see if we could all beat So Watcha Want on expert and try to get 5 gold stars. He didn't want to do it because he wouldn't have gotten the achievement.

Achievements are pure genius. It convinces gamers to go deeper into the game and see things they may never have seen. Think GTA 4's "Pigeon" achievement or Fable 2's three seperate ending achievements.

I like to get achievements in as long as there for a game I enjoy. They can give a little challenge in a game and of course replay value.

I like achievements, sure, but my girlfriend is obsessed with them. She won't play the DS because it doesn't have achievements. It's pretty funny actually. And to preempt anyone saying how sad that is, she has heaps of fun with it.

I feel good when the little achievement thing pops up, but I don't go out of my way to get them.

I'm all for achievements, but I won't go whoring them all for the sake of having them. Mass Effect was one of the few games I tried to get as many achievements for, but that was simply for the sake of the fact that I played through the game different each time I was going for them.

There are rather bullshit achievements such as Assassin Creed's flag collecting. I can't stand stuff like that. While it does force you to see some cool places in the game, it is just too tedious. Same with GTA IV's pigeons.

I enjoy them on occasion because they sometimes remind me of what I have left to do, and some force me to try something different (play outside my normal comfort zone). For example - I played through Bioshock twice to see the other ending, and the fact that I was rewarded with an Achievement for it was pretty awesome. It proved to me I can break my habit of being the saint in RPG type games.

I love them. I find myself renting games that suck just to get more...

Yep. I'm an achievement whore.
a.k.a. you're a Meta-gamer. I generally can't stand meta-gaming. It just eliminates what gameplay design a company might try simply because they sit around thinking up stupid things for people to try to do with what little is already in the game. Not all games with achievements are stricken with this ill-fate, but most developers use achievements as a crutch or filler. The only achievements I've ever cared enough to try to get were in Left 4 Dead and Half-Life 2: Episode 2. The first two were Akimbo Assassin and Unbreakable from Left 4 Dead, which were achieved at the same time. I was going for the Akimbo, just to see if I could do it, and happened to get Unbreakable in the process. The only one I went for in Episode 2 was the one involving the Gnome. It was just too odd and tempting to not try to get that achievement.

I think achievements are a good idea for encouraging players to try things they don't always do, but there better be something besides a little "you did something!" window. Like a new weapon, better armor, or some other in game reward for me to really want to try for it.

In some games, like Left4Dead I really like them and I get every one I can. They just kind of fit the game play and a high achievement score is generally a mark of a good player. In other games, like Portal, I could care less if I shoot down every camera or whatever crap they came up with. It bugs me when I beat an entire game and get 50 achievement points while the other 950 are rewarded for non-normal activity.

I only care about achievements when they are realistic and not totally insane like some of the GH and RB achievements.... oh yea and its not even realistic to try for SF4.
