The end is Nigh

On Topic: I am pretty sure the media will find a way to put a negative spin on this, like somehow connecting the Attempted shooter's low grades on games or something.

You read nothing, Nothing! Games are all that is right with the world, that and Pancakes and pirate metal.

"I overheard these 2 guys talking in a bar..." has been firmly supplanted with "So I was online the other day..."

*Sizzle* Hear that?

That's the sound of this story reaching Jack Thompson and it burning his eyes. Let us rejoice!

Didn't you say you'd review Steam for your 15,000th post? Because you're almost there.
It was going to be, but I doubt it.

Shamus Young actually has a lot of these. Read Experienced points. He explains it better than I do, and will be quoted many times in the review

Aah, the wonders of technology, and the stupidity of people.

Honestly, I don't think that guy was going to follow through anyway.

But this is quite nice for a change, at least we get to step in brighter daylight every now and then.

hmmm. Valid points for PC gamers, at least. But I fail to see how its bad for console gamers who don't have to run all these programs in the background. Also, I'm playing REALLY FUCKING OLD games on Steam that don't seem to have shit like SecuROM, etc...I'm not much of a technical person. The most complicated thing I know from a tech side is configuring my router manually.

i wouldn't as its not my business and i learned not to stick my nose where it doesn't belong.
So you would let innocent people get murdered because 'its none of your business'???

That's incredibly pathetic... I don't mean to insult you or anything but how would you live with the shame of not doing anything?

What you seem to be forgetting is that the person who was planning the shooting was also a gamer himself. Therefore, all video games cause violence.

That was good of the guy to report him, but insanely stupid of the guy to talk about it.

For an article from this year, you'd think they'd use the mother fucking Xbox 360 instead of just the Xbox!!!

Seriously....

I agree, but at the same time this could also be used by someone as evidence that all gamers are nutjobs, moments away from shooting up a place, and trying to add weight to the whole argument of video games bring about violent behavior.

It is good to see that someone can use a service like that to pick up on it though. All of these problems have to deal with escalation though.

That is ever so slightly terrifying, that a conversation on a game can get you tracked down and arrested.

Since this is the US, I'm going to go out on a limb and say when the police looked into it they found more than just a kid with a mouth faster than his brain. Otherwise they wouldn't have a great deal to charge him with. It is quite good to hear that they take this kind of thing seriously too.

But that has more implications for people in less politically transparent parts of the world, say China or Iran for instance. I wonder how many people end up arrested, blacklisted or worse for voicing their honest opinion online.

For every singel responce that video games are bad, we get a amazing thing like this to put those idiots in there place.
