I wasn't there at the time but....

A friend of mine went to see this TERRIBLE horror movie called "prom night"

...It was awful. People were walking out...then he started making comments. Like when this one girl was slowly walking towards this closet (to open it) that CLEARLY had the serial killer inside, my friend went "Narniaaaa!". And everyone left int he theater cracked up.

Apparently, some people even THANKED him after the movie, telling him that he made it worth it.

....On the less positive side, the younger brother of an ex friend of mine was incredibly distracting in movies with his super sarcastic "OMG!"s. >_>

My college had a classroom that double as a movie theater on the weekends. During a playing of Avatar, it was at that one point:

Its around the end of the battle, the Sargent ass is fighting the main guy. The ass gets shot with the bow and dies. I yelled out, "Finally!" and everyone bursted out laughing.

I dont do this on a normal bases, but its the final night of the showing, and nobody in the theater paid a dime, so I didnt really feel bad.

Oh, and a few years back, when the same theater showed the Beowulf movie, everyone was laughing when the fight scene between Beowulf and Grendel. If you saw the movie, and that fight scene, you'd laugh your ass off too.

Depends on how boring the movie is and how loud you are. I remember mocking the second Transformers Movie and nobody gave a shit. I even heard a few chuckles.

Trailers is one thing, hell everyone talks in trailers, but watching a movie with some bell-end talking constantly spoils the entertainment of everyone who wants to watch it, being quite is being polite, there is ofcourse a few exceptions for example somthing funny happens people laugh then they shut up again and carry on in my books thats fine.

To quote an example of whats not fine, i do recall once a long time ago, i was in the cinema with my bro and a few mates, all the time the film was playing some one in the back was constantly talking to themselves, comenting on everything and it was honestly the most stressfull thing ive experianced whilst trying to relax. pretty much everyone in the cinema on the way out was muttering somthing on the lines of "stupid asshole at the back" etc and honestly i have trouble recalling what the damn movie was even about because my focus was on the idiot instead of the film.

Yelling in movies kills the immersion, and that's not a good thing; no sir!

Now cheering in a movie is fantastic. Who was in a movie theatre watching Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallow Pt 2. when Belatrix was killed.

*Thunk* Not my daughter you *****! *get a few cheers- Battle ensues. Sudden THUNK she gets it in the chest and she's all 'oh god no' on her face. SMASH! She's broken into thousands of lil pieces*

WHOA!
YEAH!
You Go Girl!
YES!
HA-HAR!
*CLAPPING*

THAT is when you can yell stuff in a movie. Ron and Hermione kiss and then you suddenly get a jack-ass yell "Oi! That's enough horny boy" that sucks. It's like STFU!

Nuff Said?

I don't yell out comments in movie theaters (except once with The Last Airbender, but, well, it's The Last Airbender), but I always appreciate that one little comment that makes me glad I didn't wait until the DVD came out. In my opinion, part of the experience of going out to the movies is getting to watch them with a large group of people and share the reactions. It's really fun to go to an empty showing with a bunch of friends and have free reign of the place. If it were up to me, there would be specific theaters just for people who want to crack jokes and run around, but as it is I know that there are people who want to watch the movie in peace, so I'll keep my mouth shut.

I whole heartedly endorse doing this, especially at midnight screenings since there's liable to be fewer people to piss off there.

For previews it's practically mandatory. During the movie it's rude unless you are seeing Rocky Horror or some other equally enjoyable "audience involvement required" type of film.

I don't want to encourage it, but it's fine if it only happens once or twice during the movie. And the joke better be goddamn funny.
Me a a half-dozen of my friends almost got into a big fight with another group of a half-dozen loud-mouthed fuckers in a theater during The Spirit.
But I don't dislike them as much as I FUCKING HATE whoever that dumb ***** is that tries to get people to clap during dramatic scenes. I see red when I hear the sound of someone attempting to start applause. It ruins dramatic moments, and when it actually works, everything becomes over-dramatic.
To be fair to the people that do this(I will murder you in your fucking sleep) , try doing the <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhTiJEYqqY8>slow clap, so you can feel out the momentumn of the theater.

It all depends on the movie.

Usually I'll just whisper it to my friends, but if the movie is terrible enough and/or there's no one around to disturb, then I'll say it out loud.

I'm of the mind that if you don't want a running commentary from the audience, then don't go see a shit movie.

"But Dorian6" I hear from the masses. "The people who paid for the movie deserve the right to see it without ass-hats providing their own commentary."

No they do not. If you actually liked Green Lantern or Skyline or The Last Airbender or Fast 5 or Transformers, then you deserve to be viciously mocked. Your opinion is wrong, and you have no taste.

Maybe, but conditions really play a big part in weather or not it's appropriate. If you just whisper to your friend every so often it's fine, but it shouldn't get out of hand. If it's a small crowd at a crappy movie and you have one good line that you just can't help saying once, I guess it might be fine, but shouting in any movie is usually obnoxious.

I did it in Ned Kelly, but only because my three friends and I were the only ones in the cinema. The scene where Naomi Watts is cutting Heath Ledger's hair rolled around, so I stood up and shouted "For the love of God, woman, GIVE THE MAN A SHAVE!"

If they went to see Twilight they're ass-hats to begin with.
