Hell yeah, its always funny to hear all the chicks go wild for some dude that takes his shirt off or some guy who starts a slow clap when a hated character gets the axe.

I never yell anything, but I am the guy who whispers stuff to his friends constantly throughout the movie. When we went to see 2012 (don't ask) I did it so much that by the end of the movie, the guy behind me curbstomped the back of my chair and told me to shut up.

Some outbursts can actually make scenes ten times better.
I went see new moon with a friend because I am such a good friend and when It was just Jacob and Bella were on their own and there was the long pause someone yelled out SUCK HIS DICK!
I was pissing myself laughing!
later on, When Alice calls Jacob a dog right to his face I yelled out OH SNAP ***** CAKES!
I heard other people laughing to what I said and it made it my night!
It depends on the movie and what time your going to see it and how the audience is
like doing outbursts on opening day of Harry Potter is not the best one.

If you're the only ones in the theater then fine, otherwise save the sarcastic comments for when you're watching DVDs.

I find it only appropriate if you do it with puppets and use a funny voice for each. Otherwise its usually a no. Save it for the DVD with friends.

It all depends on the movie.

Usually I'll just whisper it to my friends, but if the movie is terrible enough and/or there's no one around to disturb, then I'll say it out loud.

I'm of the mind that if you don't want a running commentary from the audience, then don't go see a shit movie.

"But Dorian6" I hear from the masses. "The people who paid for the movie deserve the right to see it without ass-hats providing their own commentary."

No they do not. If you actually liked Green Lantern or Skyline or The Last Airbender or Fast 5 or Transformers, then you deserve to be viciously mocked. Your opinion is wrong, and you have no taste.
I am one of the ones who didn't feel cheated out of $10 by The Green Lantern. In fact, I'll probably buy it when it comes out on DVD.

I am prepared for your undoubtedly witty vicious mockery of me.
well if you liked Green Lantern you shouldn't be here, you should be in your room coloring. Another guy who liked the movie colored a picture of a fire truck for me today. It was blue, but he almost stayed completely in the lines. Good for him.

Seriously though, if you liked it, whatever. But it was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life.

I only do that for horrible movies. It's only okay till you get asked to stop it then you stop it.

Last two movies I saw was Twilight with my mother and The Expendables with my friends, both times it was late at night after hitting bars. Drunk audiences can turn anything into a comedy central special.

Only did it once, during Hero. Cracked up practically everyone in the theatre though, so totally worth it.

It's not okay in my opinion, I rarely go to the movies, but on the two occasions that I have any sarcastic jokes I had were whispered to my friends, not shouted at the entire theatre, not everyone wants to hear it, and I know it's annoying because it annoys me when other people do shout out terrible jokes.

No it's not okay. They have names for people doing that: complete assholes. You're ruining the film for someone else in exchange for a bit of personal amusement.

Before you hit that quote button, read the rest of my post.Of course, this only applies if there are people who want to see the film in a serious manner. Feel free to do it when it's empty and you have a bunch of mates around or if it's godawfully boring and no one could care. I just feel that as long as you're not ruining it for someone else, knock yourself out!

If they went to see Twilight they're ass-hats to begin with.
People who went to see a film you don't like are now assholes. The ignorance in that post is rather sad.

.....I'm not sure why, but once you said 'but dorian' etc, I immediately began reading your post in Yahtzee's voice. It was...kind of trippy actually.

OP: I'll whisper back and forth with a friend, and if it gets to a level where someone tells me to stfu, I will in fact, apologize and shut up. Which is how it should be done in my opinion, people!

If the, admittedly, not great Green Lantern movie is the worst thing you've seen in your entire life, you need to get out more. I know you didn't mean it literally, but that particular choice of words has always bothered me.

Anyways, OT: There are two scenarios in which talking loudly at all in the movie theater is justified.

1) It's a movie like Rocky Horror Picture Show, where the screening has been specifically set up for audience participation.

2) You know EVERYONE in the theater, and you know they would welcome the interruption. If there's a single person in the theater who might be immersed in the movie on any level, you have no right whatsoever to break that immersion for a few cheap laughs.
