(Yep, it's that time again) Wolverine Movie: Who will go see it? What do you think of the trailers?

Right, so I took a look around for this and didn't see a thread about this recently so...

I just saw the recent X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer, and sweet Jebus on a salted craker, I thought this one just added to the previous trailer that was also all kinds of awesome. A summer movie that seems like it will be done right!

So I just wanted to know your thoughts on the film. Will you go and see it? What do you think of the look of the film so far? Good? Bad? What of the cast? And finally What do you think of

Sabertooth being Wolverine's brother in this film? Do you think it messed up the Canon of the Wolverine Mythos?

I personally don't think so, but I will explain why after a few posts.

All the movies have been almost completely off-canon, haven't they? It doesn't really matter what they do now, really, as long as it's entertaining.

I'm an x-men fan boy so i'll go see it. Plus if its bad all i have to think about is how bad it could have been if it was a scott summers based movie. But for what the movie is i think it will be good. I'm not going into it thinking its going to change my life with its epic storytelling. Just please follow this formula: Big claws = Carnage

It looks nice, Hugh Jackman makes a great Wolverine, and it looks like it keeps the spirit of the Wolverine comics but It seems a bit too over the top and cheesy for me to spend $15 at a theater(I can't suspend my sense of reality enough to accept a dude flying into a helicopter and taking it down.)

To me, the Sabretooth issue is much the same as making the Joker the killer of Bruce's parents in the 89 Batman flick, done to make the character seem more relevant. Whatever. It seems like they're keeping pretty close to the "Origin" story in most other aspects, and the film looks pretty solid from the trailers. I think the bigger issue here should be what to think of how Deadpool is being portrayed. I know the Baraka style claws are really messing with people and the whole cyclops power thing....thats a definite yikes.

I love that Blob shows up and I think its a shame they already spoiled his appearance in the trailer.

I'm expecting this film to be fun and rather stupid.

Oh definitely, that's what I thought as well, but I have heard people complaining, which I just don't get as there have been so many different comic book renditions, it wouldn't really matter what they did, provided they didn't go too far off track.

Don't. Even. Joke. I think I would rather go and see Dragon Ball live action, I swear. I never liked Cyclops, not even once. To me he was just the littlest boy scout that no one liked. Plus I think this film looks pretty damned good don't you think? (judging from the trailers) even if trailers can be a bit misleading, I don't think it will be the case here.

Also what do you think of the cast? I think it's damn near perfect, in my eyes. Obviously the names at first had me being cautious (Wil.I.Am? He acts now?) But they all look like they will work, and I think the wisecracking persona of Ryan Reynolds is a damn good fit.

Speaking of which, notice he has his face all nice and intact?

And does anyone here like Cyclops? I just thought I'd throw that out as well.

Pfft. His brothr shoots cosmic energy out of his hands and is less of an ass. I think that's a good trade off for eye lasers, and I think he can take him in a scrap.

I will admit that every time I see him get his arse handed to him in the comics, I smile, and I could go as far as to say that I would prefer Jubilee. No clue where all this contempt for him comes from though.

On a partially related note: *sigh* I miss VS threads. I don't see why they are not allowed here, I mean this isn't game trailers, we can maintain a logical debate without being fanboys can we not? How about some Link vs Cloud, or some Shinobi (Joe Musashi) vs Ryu Hayabusa?

I've seen plenty of posts in Escapist versus threads that can be summed up as "lolfag" or "STFU n00b". Unfortunately, some of our fellow Escapists are exactly the same as every other idiot on the internet, only with better grammar and spelling.

Also, yes, I agree. His brother is ten times more awesome. Still, if someone else had his powers, or if he weren't such an ass, we'd think they were a hell of a lot cooler.

I really really don't. I don't see why they gave such an awesome power to sch a lame character. There's nothing special about him at all, he's just crap. Except for the fact he shoots lasers out of his eyes.

I want them to put Legion in this film. That would make me excited.
