The fact that the term 'hard scope' is used at all when discussing sniping is a pretty sorry state of affairs

its faggy, you going to use a sniper.. use it properlly, dont run around lucking every kill, thats why the world has a problem with you. You are just as bad as noob tubers.
I'm a quick scoper and no scoper, and no its not "faggy", would you mind not being so hateful in future.

its funny because I consider snipers that sit in one spot to be not using the guns ability to its fullest.
We take completely separate approaches. I prefer finding a perch/ambush spot with a silenced hard-scoped sniper rifle. I tend to consider folks who run around with their rifle just to quick scope down targets to be missing the point behind sniping, but both are legitimate tactics.

"Combat sniper" vs "ambush sniper". Both valid techniques, but I prefer a burst-fire weapon for the former.

I take your argument and agree with both being a legitimate strategy Naheal, I will however say this young esquire of wordiness, I love rushing an opposing teams sniper.

I can actually ambush opponents with a long range weapon, its hugely satisfying when another sniper decides to hunt me and gets creamed.

Have you got a PS3 with KillZone 2?, I thoroughly recommend it, the Scout class has the ability to turn invisible while not moving which would suit your play style, the more you move the more visible you are.

Its the class I use, but I actually run around the map being a nutter even though he's shit in close quarters, I just love looking like an Evil Sonic the Hedgehog.

edit, that came across as "Hey I'm awesome at sniping, and buy a PS3", that was not my intention, so I'd like to apologise.

Nothing wrong with it....as long as they hold their own. I swear I rarely see quickscoper who go positive. I don't need idoits like that on my team. Either hold your own or switch to a different weapon

A tactic is a tactic, use it or have it used against you. That's my opinion on all of these games, if it's so game "breakingly" bad then why are you playing that game?
Actually I don't play the game, just because of this amount of game-breaking faults (and practically no hardcore mode). If I could go back to the day I bought it and stop myself, I would.

This among other things would never happen in real life, and since MeeWee2 is trying to be realistic, it fails. Epically. For ref I play MW1, CSS, and BC2.

Not only that but Valve put in an intentional delay in the Sniper's rifle where you can't quickscope. It won't register a headshot for, I think, 40ms or so after you scope in.
i got a no scope head shot once, and pick pepole off quickly with sniper, i do not believe there is a delay in tf2.

Pepole hate quick-scopers because of the 2 extremes, they either are great players who should be doing scrims not playing lobby, or they are poor players who miss every shot. There is not much of an in between, also most pepole would not mind the good players as much except there are so many new players who try to copy them. Eventually in any game trying to play like the pros will get you good, but until you have logged your hundredth hour you are just a hindrance.

It's just as bad as people running and jumping around with a shotgun, let's see you jump while firing ANY shotgun that isn't a AA12, you will get knocked on your ass and probably break something. Just like firing a god damn .50 caliber sniper rifle while jumping, you will get hurt. MW2 is supposed to be about some form of realistic shooting but it's just an unbalanced joke with broken gameplay elements that people exploit.

And it is an exploit because if you can't aim straight while walking in game you're not going to aim straight while running and jumping just because you brought up your scope to aim. That thirty pound .50 caliber rifle is going to knock you on your ass.

Guys.

Can we please stop talking about MW2.

I mean, for a website full of people who hate the game, it seems that all of you are still playing it.

The main probly with no scopers is that its scrubby, you get people like me for one who use smg's i would say most of the time with assualt rifles, of course i use snipers as well. But there is nothing than when you are using a sniper, scoped in hit someone and it clips them, then your running around with an smg and some scrub lucks a shot that drops you in one, usually after you have put a good 5 or so bullets in them (didnt want to over exaggerate and get brought up on that as well)
No one good goes for no-scopes for anything other than last-ditch-effort type of things before they die to an SMG or Commandotard. Quick scopes are easily the hardest thing to pull off in a game that is otherwise ridiculously simple and noob-friendly. Yes, there is a little luck involved, but to say that quick-scopers are "scrubs" when you use SMGs (and I'm assuming the UMP45 because that's what everyone uses) is pretty ass-backwards. The UMP is a sniper rifle that fires full auto and can be sprayed. If anything, it's the UMP users who are the "scrubs", although I wouldn't go that far. At least you aren't using Shotguns, Commando, or Noob Tubes.

I just put these people with the rest of the cliche 'cool guy' tactics, then stomp them by simply being good.

Well personally I do quick scope, It's one of 7 classes I have for all different gameplay styles to keep MW2 interesting, don't see why it is such an issue, if anything it is harder to accomplish than normal sniping.

One game I managed to win our team with 31-0 K/D, using the Intervention and with no camping! Honestly if that is not skill, I do not know what is!

In all seriousness, I think something is only 'noobie' if there is no possible way the enemy player could have counteracted it. In which case, noobtubes and possibly shotguns are the only entities I could consider noobie in any way. Both harscoping and quickscoping are certainly not noobie.

Just to clarify it's more the type of person that quick-scoping attracts (arrogant loudmouthed kids who take the game too seriously) more than the act that bothers me. I guess it's because the game is so popular it is flooded with arseholes who wouldn't usually game.

This made me chuckle a little inside. I love seeing players with the titles and badges for the UMP45, Intervention and ACR. I feel like "yes, we know you've used those alot, so does everyone else"

Its the same as camping, spawn killing, and noob tubing. Annoying as hell to the person its happening to but acceptable to the person doing it.

Simple - quickscoping when done properly is an abuse of the game mechanics since it uses the aim assist of hip fire and combines it with the pinpoint accuracy of the scope. So you don't even have to have your target dead center and the bullet will still hit them

Main point really is that CoD sniping which used to be about positioning and long shots is dead and replaced with running around up close hoping the one hit kill gun hits.

Biggest hope for the new CoD is that they make the sniper only one hit kill with a headshot

As mentioned previously, no respect for dev lazyness and stupidity. Though, nothing against people who use it.
