Pretty much my experience as well. I've also found it interesting from my time on another forum (one that I was not a mod of) to guess which moderators had been asked to moderate and which moderators had volunteered to do so. I think I was ~90% accurate in guessing which was which because the latter group where douche bags and pretty crap at the task. In general no matter how trivial an amount it may be it's generally not a good idea to give authority to those who actively seek such authority over others out.Denamic said:

Cut out the middle man (give warnings) regarding behaviour that's against the rules.

I don't think that's quite how it works, mods dont absorb the powers of the people they ban....or do they? Maybe that's where they go, they eventually absorb so many users that they evolve to a higher state of consciousness or union with the forum software.CommanderL said:
