FFVII's final boss was too easy. You could not attack at all and still win.
Can you explain to me how FFVII's boss was easy?? Besides putting on all possible counter materia with KOTR and preemptive strikes, you cannot get what you claim. And even so that takes hours upon hours of training and collecting.

OT: My whine goes towards Fallout 3, because the 'final boss' more or less was a common fight, really.

This thread again? Seriously once a month or 2 this thread pops up. Sigh.

My contribution is Bowers from the original Mario games. Seriously you just jump over him and he dies. Weak.

This might sound odd, but compared to the rest of the game, the Archdemon in Dragon Age: Origins was fairly simple to defeat. At least for me. I failed numerous times against Flemeth (who doesn't even move around) and the regular High Dragon, but I easily cruised through the Archdemon. Maybe because I had the armies backing me up, and maybe because my characters were higher level and prepared for the situation better. I don't know, but it just wasn't as difficult as the other fights to me.

Oblivion. You don't fight the final boss at all. It's all cutsceney and lame.
Let's be fair here. The final "boss" stood several hundred feet in height. Even though I'd like to think my character could have taken him, the sad truth is I'd probably just get stamped underfoot on accident if I tried to fight him myself.

I will however say that the path TO the final boss is a bit of a letdown. My investment in alchemy turned out to be all it took to ensure quick victory as I had hundreds and hundreds of heal over time potions. When combined with heavy armor and whatnot the only way I could possibly die is if someone managed to deliver more than 500 points of damage instantly (or, to be more accurate, about 3500 damage (taking armor into account) in a single attack. No monster in the game could hope to do such a thing. Hell, even if you took the most lethal monsters in the game and completely surrounded my character with them such a thing was still impossible.

Still, that is always the problem with Elder Scrolls games. By the end, you are such an unstoppable badass that even gods must tremble at your approach.

Generally speaking, most RPG's fall into this trap i'd say. Neverwinter Nights 2 had a pretty decent final boss battle. Even though I had my entire party (expect that horrible sorceress who opted to side with the king of shadows and Bishop who switched sides and then jumped ship from the king of shadows camp in the end), the fight consumed every spell, ability, trick, trap and specialty ammunition I had available. By the end my cleric was out of healing spells, I was out of healing items (both kits and poultices), my wizard was tapped, all of my hellfire warlock abilities had been tapped (at the cost of all but 3 of my constitution score no less) and my consumable inventory was looking kinda sparse. That was a proper final boss fight I think. While I'm sure some people who spent more time and care selecting skills and spells all along would have had an easier time, when push came to shove it took everything my party could spare to win the day.

Also, the game crashed twice during the final battle.

And Resistance: Fall of Man: There wasn't EVEN a final boss. You shattered tubes while dodging aliens and Angels. That was it. Nothing more than a few plasma bullets and BAM, done.
Resistance 2 was worse, in my opinion. You just ruin away from a giant floating squid and shoot lights to kill it. It was really lame and took maybe 45 seconds at most.

I haven't played Resistance 2 yet lol. But I don't doubt the boss battle will suck. Shit, the whole Resistance one game was bullshit through and through. On Normal mode, just one battle felt like a boss battle to me. I got gang raped constantly by those cheap aliens >_<

Then again, I have never been good at FPS lol. I can't hide and shoot, I always have to run out and take people down and move on.

I only really skimmed over the preceding pages, so I'm sure I've been beaten to the punch SO hard, but let me contribute a handful.

First, the obvious two candidates for me: Oblivion (Martin is credit to kill-stealing team?), and Fallout 3 (final boss? What final boss?).

I'd also like to contribute Ganon, from OoT. Not Ganondorf, who at least pretended to be moderately challenging with that recurring energy baseball motif, but the giant pig-demon that Ganondorf turns into in a last-ditch attempt to seize ultimate power...and who is so abominably piss-easy that I found myself, on my very first playthrough no less, purposefully letting myself get smacked around just so I could call it a fair fight.

Borderlands' initial boss before the DLC came out. Me and about three people were playing co-op when we killed it, the credits rolled and we just kinda stood there in the snow, looking at each other, looking at the guns, seriously asking maybe we glitched it or something.

(I didn't read all the posts, in case someone already did this)

In Bayonetta, I wasn't neccesarily disappointed, but I expected the final boss to be a bit more challenging. If you've ever played the game, you know you die A LOT. During the final boss I only died once, compared to at least three or four times for the other bosses.

Halo 3's final boss was a little too easy but I didn't mind so much.

I found the boss-fight with Zant to be a little...underwhelming. Once I figured out his patterns, he was ridiculously easy to beat down without being even touched.

Deffinitly, but the Uncharted 2 final boss was alot better, not to mention took me ages to beat him on Crushed difficulty.

To the people mentioning Fable 2 and Bushido Blade 2:

Those are not boss fights. They are simply there to wrap up the stories. The fights before them are the actual final bosses.

Devil May Cry 2, its first form was a blob of former bosses, it couldn't move and i could defeat it without looking at the screen, and the final form, was a fast dual-sword-weilding fire demon that could fly, even with all that, it couldnt kill me if i would only keep pressing the slash button

Fable 2...I didn't even need to fight, wait a while and Reaver takes care of the job.....real tough

Borderlands...very anticlimatic ending...I thought I would get to fight the new Claptrap

Arkam Aslyam...yeah I don't think it counts if the final boss is the same thing I've been doing all game, and that is beating up a lot of goons
