HALO 3 What the FUCK?
How can u call a little flying camera that only stands 3 laser shots and cant really kill u a FINAL boss?
I dont really understand that either... How can anyone call it a boss? Its not...

I havent seen anything official anywhere calling it a boss. Its merely a plot-device.

Why do games need final bosses now?

Borderlands had a horrible one, not only was he piss easy, he took an annoying amount of time because of his massive health and any kind of tension that would have been created if he wasn't piss easy would have been killed anyway because you restart 20 feet from him with nill consequences! Not to mention the (admittedly totally expected) twist that
you never really get to see what's in the vault after all!
That WAS all the vault had to offer! :p

But wasnt it obvious? A vault(box) on a world named Pandora. :D

Halo 2, Halo 3, Fable 2, Arkham Asylum, Xenosaga 2, Devil May Cry, Half-Life 2 (if you can call that a boss fight).

Half life 2? But that wasn't really a final boss. Just some ships flying around and some plates you had to knockdown. I guess fighting Breen would be piss easy with the super-gravity gun.

Assassin's Creed II. The game had a solid sword fighting system, but the boss battle is basically summed up by "Just keep punching him".

Halo 3. People say that it was more of an interactive cutscene than a boss, but he's the last significant being you must defeat using gameplay mechanics. That's a boss.

The final boss in destroy all humans 2, the first game's boss actually gave me "Final boss Jitters" and an increased nervous heartbeat, I beat the boss of this game on the first try in less than 2 minutes without taking a hit... the alien enemies on the final level were tougher than him.

Who the hell told everyone that Lucien in Fable 2 was a final boss? He's not a boss, he's simply the conclusion to the story. A game doesn't NEED a final boss!
I agree with you on the Lucien thing, but In a game based principaly on combat, with the first game offering two epic battles, we could've at least gotten a huge fight, or a guard, or something to really challenge our epic hero on all levels, strength, will, and skill.

As for my boss Castlevania SOTN had every single boss become nothing when you get the shield rod.

I totaled Jecht in FFX. Just obliterated the guy. In fact, none of the bosses inside Sin were any difficult; the final Seymour was especially easy.

I was level 50 on Borderlands, too high to get a challenge from playthrough 1 of Secret Armory of General Knoxx, but too crappy at it to not get my arse kicked by the AI on the second playthrough, so I chose 1st playthrough. I killed Knoxx with five shots...

Fallout 3 vanilla, kill a guy and then die. Or send Lyons to her death.

Another one I thought was the end to oblivion. It left me with the thought "Wow, that was pretty epic, I wish I could of fought in the boss battle."

Metro 2033. It was a modern cpu-burning fps that dropped the "s" for the entire final level. platform jumping, dream sequence running, then final one ultra slow-mo "do it. DO IT! OMG JUST F'ING DO IT!" standoff sequence. one bullet and... credits :) yay?

batman arkham asylum final boss was easy, boring and repetitive.
"Hmm, thanks to some toxic goo I have superhuman strength, what should I do? I know! I'll send my weakass henchmen to fight the Batman while I wave at the flashy helicopters. What could possibly go wrong?"

"Oh, right."

Fable 2, Borderlands, and Oblivion. Also Saints Row 2 was a great game, but had a piss poor boss.
I still defend Fallout 3 and both Bioshocks!
What? Did I miss something? I finished Fallout 3 and as far as I know it does not have a "boss fight" at the end. Just a stupid ending.

I wish Fallout 3 made Liberty Prime turn on you. It wasn't tested yet, so it could've had a malfunction. Maybe climb a building while killing minions and dropping a chunk of metal on it. Then fight it at a weak point or somthing. That would have been awesome.

Fable 2: Shard is the last boss, Lucien is merely the conclusion.

FFX: if you do all the calm lands arena stuff then yes, Jecht will be simple. If you're talking about Yu Yevon you have autolife and cannot lose no matter what. The game won't let you. Once again not a final boss, merely the conclusion. If you haven't beaten the calm lands then Jecht is a royal pain in the ass. Because you'll only have been following the story and unless you went out of the way to do some levelling he's pretty challenging. Think Seymour's fight on Mt Gagazet and then add some. If you done the clam lands stuff, and can hit for 99,999 every time Jecht falls in two hits. If you've done that you're ready to go hunting Dark Aeons, Nemesis and ultimately Penance. All of whom will murder you quickly if your stats aren't close to 255 across the board. In fact Dark Shiva will cause mass pain given she DOES have an agility of 255, as do all the Dark Magus Sisters. One person with Initiative is a must, so you can switch in someone with One MP Cost and Auto-life.

Lame final Bosses: I don't know really, I tend to get caught in the moment. ME2's was amusing. Me's was irritatingly hard on Insane.

Your right game doesn't need to have one but some people like myself like games that do have em
Still, mistaking Lucien for a last boss, and then call him a bad one based on a misunderstanding is nothing short of retarded.
He was more like an average guy who wanted revenge on the world. Nothing stood out about him really...though it felt lacking if somewhat realistic.

Seemed more like something I would do, i.e. - There's the big bad, I have a gun...bang. End of story.

Imagine how this "fable" will be told the the children of Albion: "...and after years of hardship, toiling away to stop Lucien; in the final hour, the hero stood before him...then shot him dead."

Assassin's Creed II was just a punch up, Mass Effect 2's looked really stupid and was piss easy, Dead Space offered no challenge, yadda yadda yadda.

My contribution is inFAMOUS. It was really easy to dodge his attacks (except the unblockable grab that threw you across the map) and then you could just arc lightning him. rince and repeat.

I will admit that on my second playthrough it was more difficult because I didn't have arc lightning and the power blast thing sucked, but it was still pretty easy. Epic but easy.
