I haven't really played the first two that much, but I thought some of the set pieces for the Halo 3 were actually pretty awesome. If Halo didn't exist, there would not have been such a huge pop culture push and we wouldn't have all those CoD and Fps clones, we would have more games like Infamous and Ico.
Halo was a bland game that got way too much public attention and money.
