Darn I was hoping your birth year was in your profile, because when I was growing up (I was born 1988) that use to really bug the piss out of me whenever I'd watch a show with the kids playing video games, and it was always like the same generic video game sounds of bleeps and bloops, and then it ended with the dying sound of Pac-Man.

And I'd be like, BULLSHIT! Cause the kids on TV would be playing Sega Genesis, allegedly anyway, holding Sega controllers at least.

It's ok, I'll post the highlight.

Not technically gaming, but that just makes it even worse. Heck, they probably wrote that scene on a keyboard, they know how they work dammit, they're just choosing to be stupid! Imbeciles.

Wait...How exactly is Black Ops 2 racist? Yes, you're probably fighting a lot of Russians, but that's kind of how a war between two countries WORKS.

Anyway, OT: I'm afraid I don't. Well, one time my brother's girlfriend saw me playing Skyrim and asked "What's the point of this game?" in a way that suggested she thought I was wasting my time. I mean, I WAS, but not anymore then if I had been, say, flipping channels or reading a book. Anyway, I didn't really have an answer for her.

EDIT: Oh, and this:

Why yes, he IS playing that game with a calculator.

Ah. How I hate the people who think console exclusivity is the devil. Those that want to play Diablo 3 on the 360 because they do not want to invest in an 800 dollar gaming computer.
...Blizzard is actually testing a console version of Diablo III, and, according to one post, might release it if they like their build enough.

As for me, I'd like it on the 360 because then there (probably) won't be an always-on requirement, making the 360 version a far-superior version, and I'll be able to smile in smug satisfaction at people that willingly gave money to Blizzard for a shitty feature like Always-On DRM.

I love it when people try to blag you into thinking they know about a certain topic. It's hilarious I like asking increasingly difficult questions rather than right out saying that I think they're a bullshit liar.

I don't have any game related stories but I do have one about music. My friend put a status about how Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon was brilliant. Anyway one of his friends said that money was a good song, he replied that he hadn't listened to it yet. So he'd put a status saying that it was an awesome album when he hadn't listened to the album all the way through. The same friend said that Smashing Pupkins were shit, then a couple of week later he listed Smashing Pumpkins as a band that he liked. He said his favourite song was Cherub Rock now he's either trying to bullshit me into thinking he's a fan or he has actually listened to Smashing Pumpkins.

You are not misreading me. I happen to like the the idea of console/ platform exclusivity because that is the only thing that gives platforms identity.

If there is a game you want to play on a console you do not have, The answer is simple and multiple choice:

A.) Find a friend that has that console and ask to burrow it.
B.) Buy that console and that game.
C.) Don't get it if you are not willing to compromise and get that console.

The answer is not to complain about how life is unfair that you do not get to use Link with my Kinect interface.

Don't mind if I do.

It pisses me off when people talk about CoD like they are legit MLG pros and ignore the fact that their skill level is just pathetic compared to someone who actually knows how to play.

Do we have actual proof of this? Or is it that one where one of the game developer's actually copped to saying, it is something we like to keep out there until we can find a team to actually work on the conversion?

I have no interest in D3, but I would rather play it on a PC and not on a console. Forgive me for liking platform exclusivity. Or don't either way.

Not sure if this is the one you're thinking of, but I wouldn't call it contagious... I'd call it hilarious.

I suppose the laughter might be infectious though.

But... Pac Man WAS on genesis. I mean, I only had a genesis for most of my pre-teen years and I remember playing it.

Though point is still valid, stock sound effects are painful to listen too.

I'm only halfway through June in Persona 3 (having recently purchased FES on the PSN out of a seething curiosity about this popular series, which I've somehow never played despite being an avid JRPG fan)

and I'm already fairly certain I'll get P4 arena, simply because the P4 protagonist can palette swap to my P3 protagonist.
Innegativeion, have you joined the Persona fan group yet? If you enjoy the series already, you should pop in to say "hello".

I'm sure the group will get active when Arena comes out, with every one sharing gamer tags and what not.

To be fair they don't need to either. A 200 dollar video card in the typical quad core Dell will play any game on the PC market just fine at at least 1680x1050. You won't be setting any benchmarking records with it but you'll be able to game happily.
My point there was that if they already had a console, they wouldn't want to shell out more to upgrade a computer instead. If they spent the money on an upgraded computer instaed of buying a console it also wouldn't be an issue.

So how about that Persona 4 fighting game guys? There's a combo break button. A goddamn combo break button. Fucking finally! 'S like an upgraded version of Skullgirls' Infinite Prevention System.

Do want nao.
It was developed by the same team that made BlazBlue, and that had a combo break system, otherwise known as bursting. Better use it wisely, you only get two "bursts" AT MOST per round, at least if it's like BlazBlue's system.

Anyways, on topic: Yeah. A lot of people here are your typical "Call of Duty" gamer. Not to put them down or anything; it's just the only game they know about and they have to mention it every the time the subject of video games comes up.

I don't think they actually make the games. I think they just play sound effects that come from the TV to make it look like they're playing a game.
Except for the times when they do show a game. And whatever the case, it tends to be totally misrepresentative of games and gaming.
And when people are using the controllers, the actors just mash all the buttons and flick the analogue sticks around.

Ever seen a film called 'Elephant'? Besides being a terrible film generally, they built this really stupid FPS where you seem to be in just a plain white area, and people are just standing there waiting to be shot. At least, that's what I remember when I watched it in the cinema. I would look for the clip, but it's such a terrible film I don't want to bring the memories back.

EDIT: Forgot to mention my example.

A year or two ago, I was talking to a friend at a supermarket. I was saying how I hadn't gotten round to buying a PS3 yet when suddenly a man walks up to us and starts telling me that 'the PS3 is shit' and that I should get an xbox 360 instead, because the graphics are better, and it has better games.

Now, the way my friend was talking back to him, I assumed it was a friend of my friend, so I carried on the conversation. I stated that I wanted a PS3 because it had more of the exclusive games I wanted. Eventually, after saying this about 3 times, the guys just walked off in a huff.

I said to my friend 'so how was that guy anyway?'. My friend shrugged and said 'I don't know'.

Turns out it was a complete stranger trolling on our conversation. Weird.

Not saying your friend is in the right(I'd side with you and cite things like San Andreas and GT4), but Persona 4 is not a 'god-tier' game. I'd call it average. It's only good if you like a relatively small niche of gaming, if you're not into fighting games you will most likely find it to lie somewhere between terrible and frustrating. You can't just pick it up and play like you can San An or GT4.

Personally I can't fault Persona 4 at all. It's up there chilling with UMVC3's Wesker in God Tier Land. Seriously I find it to be perfection person(a)ified

Note the word personally. I know people will find faults like "it's too foreign!" or "it has to many dialogue scenes!" Perfectly acceptable.

Perfection is in the eye of the beholder after all XP

Persona 4 has something from basically every single niche I like. Both in gaming and outside gaming. Mystery, Anime, Melodrama, Philosophy etc etc you name a thing I like, Persona 4 has it.

Oh and judging from your post you probably haven't seen that there is actually a Persona 4 fighting game coming out... From the guys who made Guilty Gear and Blazblue and such

It's video posting time ladies and gentlemen.

SO HYPE!

Now watch as they announce the European release to be fucking ages after the US release so all the assholes can get good before we even get the chance to buy it...

I'm just gonna take a guess and judge it like every other CoD game and say it goes like this.
1. Terrorists are up to something (mainly Arabic)(leader is Russian)
2. Terrorists do bad stuff because "fuck the western world"
3. Turns out Russia was behind it all the time because they hate America and apple pie and all that shit
4. Rather than depicting Russians as human beings they kill innocent civilians just for the lulz and look like The Joker

Now I could be totally wrong and if I am then extra credit goes to Treyarch for having at least some decent writers
