As far as well designed games go, what people take from the game is completely subjective. Comparing it to Mass Effect could've been him comparing it to the tactical co-op or the few dialogue choices, you don't know because you don't know what he took from Mass Effect.
Actually, if I recall correctly (I didn't mention this in my OP), he said Black Ops 2 looked like Mass Effect and Halo because it was set in the future. Also, he has never played the Mass Effect games before so he had no idea what he was talking about.

Black Ops 2: Set in 2025
Mass Effect Games: Set in 2183-2186
Halo: Set in 26th century

See my point?
Yes, but you're still missing mine. If THAT'S what he got out of the Mass Effect trailers and ads, then BioWare simply failed when advertising massively. Simple as. For all you know, he may have been identifying the recent trends of games slowly returning to sci-fi, yet on a more realistic level.
Or he was lazy and didn't research it before he decided to act like he knew about it.
Kind of like you did when you called Blops 2 "Crysis 2 racism edition"

So really you are as bad as your friend, and a hypocrite.
No need to take it to seriously, it was a joke.

I once saw this movie where a kid played WOW and it looked like he was playing DDR/Stepmania or Hollywood hacking. Also in to many movies/TV series consoles make bleeping noises even though systems don,t make those sounds anymore since the 70's/80's or making sounds like "GAME OVER" in a generic electronic voice.

Every TV show ever. Particularly cop dramas. Look, I know it's expensive to license games, but please at least play one privately before you attempt to make your own. And if you are going to license a name like Prince of Persia, please don't then ignore its actual existing framework. Why the hell did you license it, in that case?
Are you talking about that show that had a killer hide the documents inside the games coding, and so they had to get to level 15 in Prince of Persia to unlock the files because apparently you can install windows office into an Xbox and actually access it through a games coding?

Or the time when we met a girl who apparently had the "high score" in every MMO game ever...
I saw that on TV...at the time..

obviously she was a Time Lord

So how about that Persona 4 fighting game guys?
Not saying your friend is in the right(I'd side with you and cite things like San Andreas and GT4), but Persona 4 is not a 'god-tier' game. I'd call it average. It's only good if you like a relatively small niche of gaming, if you're not into fighting games you will most likely find it to lie somewhere between terrible and frustrating. You can't just pick it up and play like you can San An or GT4.
Well for a start there are no god tier games at all ever in that there will always be a few people who dislike a game at very best. I do agree that if you are not into fighting games you will probably not enjoy Persona 4 ultimate in mayonaka arena also if you are not into driving games you will probably not enjoy GT4 and if you are not into sandbox type games you will probably not enjoy GTA San Andreas.

Fighting games can be pretty complex there is a lot of different techniques to use and master in the best of them but on a surface level they are extremely simple and I would say anyone who has even a basic grasp of games would get the hang of doing a few simple kicks and punches after a few seconds, tell them its a fighting game and they will get the idea of what the aim is tell them GT4 is a racing game and they will understand what to do tell them San Andreas is a Sandbox game or action game and they still wont have much idea.

If I gave my gran a pad she would be no more able to play any of these games but at least in Persona 4 Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena and GT4 case she may be able to do something if only for a few seconds before she crashes/gets K.O d etc.

So how about that Persona 4 fighting game guys? There's a combo break button. A goddamn combo break button. Fucking finally! 'S like an upgraded version of Skullgirls' Infinite Prevention System.

Do want nao.
It was developed by the same team that made BlazBlue, and that had a combo break system, otherwise known as bursting. Better use it wisely, you only get two "bursts" AT MOST per round, at least if it's like BlazBlue's system.
From what little I have heard and seen via videos it is bursting and works the same way as in Blazblue and can be used for breaking or extending combos depending on how you use it unless its baited out then it can be wasted as well so its not really anything like Skullgirls infinite prevention system really.

OT:I remember a work colleague (who I disliked) would constantly talk to me about games and say how hardcore he is blah blah blah etc so eventually I decided to ask him what games he likes which turned out to be FPS and RTS ok I thought np not really my kind of games but I know a fair bit about them enough to hold a conversation with someone on them anyway.

He then asks me what games I like so I say fighting games and RPGs I suppose is what I mostly play which flummoxed him as he didnt know what an RPG was so I explained briefly what it was to which he says that sounds crap never playing one of those. The conversation went on briefly until Mario came up (were talking about old games) to which he replied Mario whos that which is when I stopped the conversation and went back to work.

I have a few from GAME as well when the staff blatantly dont have a clue what they are talking about (especially the managers) but ill leave those out.

Jurassic Park is a great movie, but when that stupid little brat of a girl hopped on the computer (a specialized computer that even experienced programmers could not get through), and said

"Wait a second...this is a Unix system; I know this."

WHAT? That's like trying to find a password on a home computer and saying

"Wait a second...this is a Windows system; I know this."
It's even worse than that: The system that Jurassic Park used for its security was specially-made just for the park!.

Watch Spaced. Great example of how to do it.
But you can't expect cop drama writers to actually play the games they're putting in their show! Those are for neeeeerrrrddds! (Hilariously enough, they do the same thing with movies. Like in NCIS, this one guy ostensibly is a huge movie geek but has an unbelievably shallow reference pool.)

OT: This is why I can't watch more than 10 seconds of literally any game-related TV thing.
I find it hard to stay mad at NCIS about video games, simply for this:

I cracked up so hard...
I love it when shows do that. Make me feel so special.
