Most screechy 12-17 year olds don't even care about story,or good writing(twilight), or talent and skill at musical instruments(JONAS BROTHERS)they just think "O MYE GAWD!!!HES SOO HAWT LOL"
I was channel surfed to Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and I caught the end of the show before it;Late night with Conan O'brian, and he had the jonas brothers as guests and they were playing some crappy assed song. And as I was watching saying,"why would you lose the respect of your male audience by putting this on your show" I caught the guitarist and bassist playing. The guitarist played 3 different chords in repetition while the base didn't even change his fingering.

Now I don't even play the guitar, and I said,"If I had a guitar right now, I could play just as well as they did" That is something that a band should be ashamed of. But, Their crappy noise that they claim is music could barely be heard over a high pitched screech from the audience. Why??

So, what I'm saying is, almost nobody here likes these things, that apparently so many people like.
Reminds me of the 2004 US election... I don't think I've seen anyone that actually likes (or liked after his first term), but he still won the election...

You know what, this has been irritating me for quite some time so I'm just going to come out and say it.

They are entitled to their opinions too, you know. It's funny how some of the more intelligent and reasonable people who can peacefully debate the merits of two rival games suddenly devolve into rabid haters as soon as something like Twilight or the Jonas Brothers is brought up. Ok, you dislike them, fair enough, so do I. But some people actually do like them. And that's OK.

Certainly the rabid fanboys and fangirls are irritating, but no more so to me than the average videogame equivelent. And there actually are people who like these things that are reasonable people. Hell, I know a couple of people that are Twilight fans that are good and friendly people.

The fact is, blindly hating on something just because it's popular isn't cool and it isn't edgy. It's just sad and pathetic, and it makes you just as bad as the rabid fans.

Not everybody hate these things because their popular some of us hate it because we don't find it good. Thats not to say there are people who hate it just because its popular.

My sister used to like the Twilight series. She hates the films though. I myself find Twilight to be an abomination to any types of vampires. I know people have different opinions I just wish I didn't have to hear why they like it.

Well, obviously. I personally don't find Twilight good either, but it doesn't mean I have to go around hating on people that like it, which is what so many "intelligent" people seem to do these days. Since what is "good" is subjective, their opinion is just as valid as mine.

To hate something because it is popular seems foolish to me. It is like 360 fanboys hate the PS3 without ever playing it. I read about Twilight on Wikipedia and it sounded like something I would dislike.

I don't hate the people who are civilized about it but the people who try to put it off as the best thing ever and when i say I don't like it its because I'm a Quote "homophobe who doesn't like love stories" then that just pisses me off.

I'm a male in my early-mid-twenties and have read the books. I found them decent, not the best thing I've ever read nor were they the absolute worst I've ever read (or tried to read). That dubious honor belongs to a pair of books, Vampire Hunter by Michael Romkey and Thumbleina by Andrea Koening, both of those were so horrible I felt like I was getting stupider with each word I read.

The move version of Twilight was a completely different experience. I thought it was so pathetically horrible that I stopped watching after less than half an hour. It may have gotten better later on but I just could not stomach any more of it.

I only know one person who likes Jonas Brothers and I haven't met her in real life.
Unfortunately, I'm the only one out my circle of friends who doesn't like Shitlight.

I rest my case (GOOD Disney=Nostalgia fest)
Disney REALLY need to revert back to GOOD Disney as thats what I'm gonna raise my kids on when I have them

Alright, show of hands, how many people here like Twilight? ...Yeah, I thought so. How 'bout Hannah Montana, Jonas Bros., or any other current Disney crap? Uh-huh, no surprise.

So, what I'm saying is, almost nobody here likes these things, that apparently so many people like. I've yet to meet someone who likes them though. Well, some people I know like Twilight, but most of them admit to their faults. I've only met one devotee in real life, and she was, well, whacky to begin with.

I'm wondering now; where are all these fans? There was that line a Comicon, all Twilight fans or something (so I've read about), Miley Cyrus and JB still sell out, the pricks. Do these people, the fans, just hide in their rooms drooling?

It's interesting. I do go on about how we have to destroy the tweentards, but I see so little of them I worry that it's merely a phantom threat or something. Does anyone else feel this way, or do these people really walk the streets in drones? Is the company I keep just that good?

Are we the minority? I'd say I know we are, but it's becoming less apparent all the time.
Way to generalize dude. You know these shows/books have target audiences? You know that we are not they?

The Escapist and Jonas brothers and other such ilk appeal to very different demographics, so of course you don't see them in the circles you probably circle.

I dislike Twilight intently - mainly because of what it did to the Vampire mythos and also because of what it turns people into (go-go highlighting of crazy people):
http://twilightsucks.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fangirls&action=display&thread=5175

I met a lass at Uni who it turns out likes Twilight - I did briefly debate not talking to her any more, but since she's awesome and the only "alt" in my whole department I decided to man-up and just take the piss out of it occasionally (she teases me about liking Warhammer, so all is fair).

I do like to bring this picture up though:

...and she agrees!

Alright, I think this has been taken the wrong way; Pilfer through my anti-tween mini rants, and my question is where are the fans? I know they aren't here, poor example, yes yes; I've been all over and I've encountered about 20 haters for every fan.

@ Kiefer: Yes, they're entitled to their opinion. Am I not allowed to say I dislike theirs? Come on, double standards. Also, I don't hate it because it's popular, I was questioning its true popularity. In fact, I just dislike it for what it is. Admittedly, I used to hate it because of the fanbase, but that was before I read up on it, and realized I hated it for it.

@ Purple Rain: Refer to above statement.

How many 8-14 year old girls do you know? Not a lot I'm guessing. As for twilight, that more general teen age fangirls and some regular women who don't talk about it unless it's brought up by someone. Your circle and the fangirls circle don't overlap much.
I have a little sister, so I know plenty. Most of them don't take the time to read such things, she has maybe two friends who've read the series.

From what I understand, the appeal of Twilight comes more from the books than the movies.

In all honesty, I don't mind Twilight. I think the story's stupid, but I do like the family of vampires and I liked how they played baseball. The love story in the movie was broken and quick, something that my cousin (who reads the books) said is stupid. From what I understand, the book gives more depth and actually builds a relationship between the girl and boy.

I was pissed that the vampires sparkled though.. =\
