Being from Australia, I've got 3 overseas countries to pick from, I'd think that the closet would be Papau New Guinea, Indonesia and New Zealand. I'd definitely pick New Zealand from that, it's got some awesome stuff and it seems to be a lot safer than the other two countries. Also, I would be able to see where LotR was filmed, and that's awesome :D

So... Greenland, Faroe islands or Jan Mayen. I guess since Jan Mayen is a part of Norway and I'm planing on moving there anyways, I'd got here.

Scotland.

I may not be able to understand a damn word they say and it may be cold as feth but dammit .... they have whiskey.
And in the event that you don't drink whisky, they have irn-bru. They seriously love it up there.

OP: I'd have to move to Ireland. See if I can find my dad. As much of a stereotype that sounds like, I have no idea where the guy is.

That would be Alberta... our Texas. They vote conservative, they have a ton of oil, they wear freaking cowboy hats... yeah it IS weird.
Thats not wierd. Thats sounds perfect. *mounts horse* TO ALBERTA!!!*rides away*

Of course there's more hockey than football... but there is still football.
Not a big sports guy. Not a big deal.

Of course I am curious what about our politics YOU think is so insane. I mean there's lots to choose from, just wondering what you'd picked up on down south.
Well, just speaking for my area (Kansas), Canada is the punchline to jokes and little else. But to those I hear politics from, they say it is alot like Europe (a major insult around here, just like being called socialist). While that results in SOME ways that I can agree with (like legal gay marriage), it results in others I am not so fond of (legal abortions [up to a point], socialized medicine, heavy firearms restrictions). I guess I just need to know afew things:

1) Can I have a M1897 Winchester "Trenchgun" [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winchester_Model_1897#Grades_of_the_Model_97] (pump shotgun with a bayonet lug) and a Colt .45 Pistol [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1911_pistol] and can I use them for self defense?
2) How is Canadas record in Interventionalism (stepping in and stopping conflict in other countries)?
3) How often is your conservative party elected?
4) Is Patriotism viewed in a negative light there?
5) How popular is the idea of a Flat Tax?
6) Is open displays of faith frowned upon?
7) How popular is country music up there?

Um, does the Channel count as a border? Because England seems to be the best choice for me, as I don't speak German, Spanish or Italian, and the Swiss and Belgians scare me. (I'm French)

I suppose I would go to Greenland, as there is no way I would ever live permenantly in the States. Sooner go straight down to Mexico.
Yes, I am Canadian.

Doesnt the USA also border Greenland and Russia through Alaska?

Anyhow, me as Dutchy will prolly move to belgium then. Cheaper education, awesome fries and chocolate, and most importantly: the same language.

Oh for-

I live in Canada! I'd have to move to the US! I don't like the US! It's going down the toilet even faster than Canada!

...Eh, I'd probably go to california then...Seems to be one of the more reasonable places there.

Oh shit...

Uh... do I live in 'England' or 'the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'?

If the former, we're next to Wales and Scotland... so... I'd commit suicide?! Beastly places, both of them... *arrogant sniff* Beastly...(!)[footnote]In case you hadn't noticed, denizens of Wales & Scotland, I'm just kidding... and channelling Jeremy Hardy in full-on toff mode... -_-[/footnote]

If the latter, we're next to Ireland only... apart from the economic situation, it wouldn't be bad.

However, if they're allowed to count, we've also got Denmark (Faroes to the north) as a neighbour, though I guess the Low Countries are closer. *shrug*

And of course... France, but come on... I'm British... ¬_¬
Hebrides, old boy. That's where it's at.

For all those dutch no braining to belgium I think I would actually go with Germany. They have their shit sorted out pretty well and German isn't that difficult to learn for us. They throw great parties and have a good football team. And in general I think I would get along with the germans best, of pretty much any country in the world.

And they pay their engineers very well, which is a bonus.

I live in the US so I guess my options are limited to Mexico and Canada. It's a decision I've have to reflect upon for many, many~CANADA! I'm going to Canada, more than likely British Columbia. Not that I know anyone there but I've heard nothing but good things.

I'm in England so I just checked a map and the countries that seem the closest are Island, France and either Belgium or the Netherlands. I'd go with France I think. Place seems nice, I haven't been there in, I think 15 years and my vague memory is it was cool.
Do you not count the Republic of Ireland as an independent nation, you imperialist dog?

I jest, but my point stands.

Well, I live in Argentina. So my choices are Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay or Brazil... I guess it will be Uruguay since we are not that different, but Brazil sounds tempting too.
How do you get over Portuguese though? I hate the language. It's like drunk Spanish.

I live in Argentina. So my options are Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. Brazil's out since I don't know Portuguese. Paraguay and Bolivia are too damn miserable, thank you very much. This leaves either Chile or Uruguay. Here I'm more partial to Uruguay (Argentina's Canada :p). Besides I've got family there. And I wouldn't miss much of anything. It's like a cleaner, mini Argentina.
