I was taught never to hit a girl unless she was trying to kill me. Women's Rights or not, you just don't hit girls, its a low thing too do.

I found the end of what you said quite interesting, "its a low thing too do" which is usually the general impression of most people, it seems like an outdated one now though, given that woman are equal to men i think it's generally fair to resort to violence with women under the same circumstances as you would with a man but even those who agree generally seem to think woman should be given a bit more leway than men.

Edit 2: If the woman attacking me is smaller than me I think I would go for restraining her rather than punching back. I don't know why. I'd certainly hit a smaller guy if he punched me. I guess it is just some primal part of my brain that says 'potential sex partner, don't hurt it', and then I instinctively will try to get through it causing as little damage as possible to the woman. Guys don't have much value to me in that sense; hell, they're rather potential rivals, so if I break them, that doesn't matter much to the primitive part of my brain, where I am pretty certain my fighting instinct lies.

Clarification: It shouldn't even enter into your head that she's a woman. I wouldn't start a fight, but I'd defend myself if ANYONE attacks me, even if it's a chick. Equal rights works both ways.

I'm inclined to agree. I would really need to be provoked to hit someone, whether they are a women or not doesn't factor into it because i'm not sexist.

If a woman is trying to start a fight and doesnt look like shes backing down any time soon then its fair pickings, you make your own bed on this one. You start a fight you deal with the consequences.
