I don't think it should matter. My first M rated game was Resident Evil 4 and that was when I was around 12. I really don't care, as long as they stay offline. You either need to at least act mature or stay offline.

Yes M-rated games should be kept from kids who aren't mature enough for it.

They are disliked in all forms of internet because usually they are very immature and shout out stuff like noob and what not also they wine when they loss.
I should know I was one(13ish when I started internet games) and I am guity of the noob thing but I choose to believe I reserved it for spawn campers and sprayers in CoD2.
Oh and touchers in Guild Wars.

No it is not a major problem playing hours of video games as long as do something like a sport or music.

Personally I do thing internet gaming should have a maturity limit or something or let the kids play with the kids on these games(+people who act like kids) so that this problem will never arise for the mature people who play the game.

Q: Should M-rated games be better kept from children (meaning 12 down or so)?

Fly: As many have probably said before me, it depends on the maturity of the child. If little Timmy can watch something crazy happen and not try to do it even with pressure, then yeah. I'd do a flipside of this, but I'm rather sure you know where that'd go.

Q: Why are children so widely disliked on Xbox Live, especially voice chat? Admittedly, I'm also annoyed by whining 12 year olds, but I actually can't really justify my dislike.

Fly: Annoying noises are disliked on voice chat, regardless of age. So, unless the kid sounds like a girl, he/she is out of luck. Prejudice? Perhaps, but it keeps the voice chat open to sophisticated chat, like the calling of hax and fart jokes.

Q: Do you think it's a major physical problem for kids playing hours and hours of videogames? (studies have shown that hand deformations are actually quite possible from too many games).

Fly: Physical? Yeah... no. If the kid doesn't do anything but play videogames, then yes, but the likelihood of that happen is slim to parents-don't-give-a-crud. And considering the number and subjects of studies floating around now, I really couldn't care less about those parentheses.

as far as M-rated games. I think those games should be raised to 18+ for the simple reason if a 18 year old fucks up. they are responsible for their actions

I don't play on XBL much. i like playing on PSN mainly because there are less children and less voice chatting. even then, when i was playing on XBL. the 12 year olds were annoying. so were the teenagers. if you don't have anything helpful to say just shut your damn mouth. it's that easy

Kids shouldn't be playing games for hours and hours. I'm not saying it's the reason. but we don't need anymore fatties running around doing nothing. because the minute they hit high school and someone makes fun of their weight. they'll cry like little bitches. say the kids at school are mean. eat more, sit and play more games and not get off their ass and go for a run or something

If you're mature enough then it doesn't matter.

As long as you aren't an annoying young gamer, I don't care.

Coincidentally, If you have a high voice, run your voice though a voice changing program and make it deeper, or just talk like a girl. Problem Solved.

Children are our future. The future scares me. We should prevent it.

Ratings on games are always going to get it wrong simply. A valid judgment cannot be made regarding an individuals maturity and ability to deal with graphic imagery. A child who is neglected or abused and grows to be psychologically deranged, either with ASPD or some other psychosis, or is bullied at school and alienated, causing depression and superiority complexes, is going to do what they're going to do regardless of if they play GTA or not. Healthy people don't run over people because they did it in a game and it looked kinda fun. Empathy for a human and empathy for a avatar is very different, and regardless of what these fanatics say the human psyche can distinguish the differance.

While I have no doubt playing excessively violent games at a very young age may besmirch the innocence of childhood somewhat, it's only going to make them more accepting of the world and it's failures, in both society and the human race.

However they should never be given headset. If you can't be shot and stfu, then don't get shot by not playing. Long term solution is mass sterilization. The human race dies out but online is forever free of whiny 12 year olds. I feel the sacrifice is one we should be willing to make.
