Fallout 3 in my books. It could have been Dragon Age if it were longer. Still really good games though.

I didn't buy a single game this year. I got my hands on copies of more than a handful of games mentioned here, played through them once- and then uninstalled. Nothing inspiring enough to buy.
For all the hype I hear about Arkham Asylum though, it's probably the most deserving.

I've been a bad girl this year. I bought lots of games & played only games I bought last year. I have a huge pile of unplayed games that's only going to get bigger before the year ends. I'm also holding out for a new graphics card. My 7600GT is practically a dinosaur now.
Arkham Asylum would get it for me but for the last 1/3... I feel it goes on too long and the final hour in particular is quite dreadful. Still really looking forward to the sequel though; hopefully they can iron out the very few problems it had.
And speaking of sequels ironing out a few problems... My game of the year has to be Uncharted 2. My favourite single player experience since Resident Evil 4, and a great, no-nonsense online multiplayer that I'm actually pretty decent at (for once), love it.

i loved uncharted 2 so much, and i would definitely call it the best ps3 game of the year, but i have to go with modern warfare 2, it was just too awesome.
either dragon age or borderlands for me, although I'm guessing that if i had a PS3 then it would be uncharted but i haven't played it so i can't make it my top game. Of course everyone already knows what next years game of the year is already so we could just get that out of the way now.

Uncharted 2 for me. Just so different to me and the pacing was great, when there wasn't action there was story and you were always left wanting more and to keep playing. Was hard for me to put the controller down because of it.

I just had fun with this game, more fun than I've had with any game since Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I think with improving graphics, amazingly realistic physics engines, and increasingly amazing technology, I think game developers have forgotten what's most important about video games.

Okay, okay! I know it's a cliche! But it's true! Realistic things are NOT video games. That is why it's called escapism, not realism! The music of The Beatles is so universally enjoyable that it's hard for me NOT to put this at the top of my list.
