I'm 1/4 Irish and 3/4 Welsh, my mother's father was from a long line of Irishmen.

If I was born at exactly the right time (1404) I would have been born in the country of Abergavenny, as it was temporarily declared its own nation at that time. Otherwise, I think it would have been just Wales.

I'm Irish, and I've traced it back quite a few centuries, I'm essentially 95% Irish Gaelic, and 5% Scots Gaelic. I'm actually directly descended from the O'Neills and the O'Rourkes, two clans that were both high kings of Ireland for quite some time.

So, not much travel going on in my family, but it's nice to know where you come from.

As for your question, China. They were very innovative at that point.
There is a strong possibility that I am also decended of the O'Neills (given my great-grandad's surname, O'neill).

My blood is Gaelic, Norse and Iberian.

All Welsh. Pretty proud considering im lucky enough to be able to speak my native language(Which is also cool cause its all ancient and that, and is always pronounced LOUDLY).
Also, racial affinity for sheep-charming comes in handy every now and then :)

I'm 3/4 English and 1/4 Scottish.

Had I been born in medieval times, I'd have been a farmer's daughter married off early so I could squeeze as many children out before I got disease and died.

My ancestry is dull as dirt.

Alright, I don't know the details but apparently my brother traced back our lineage years ago in school. According to him, my family is descended from a now extinct branch of medieval British royalty. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Lancaster] If my grandmothers maiden name is of any significance, then my family must have moved to Ireland afterwards, and then eventually came to America. Though this is all on my fathers side. On my mothers side, all I know is that one of my ancestors joined the Mormons trek to Utah in the 1800's. I don't know anything beyond that.

I'd like to confirm all this for myself, but I don't even know where to begin looking <_<

I'm related to an Irish Family that got exiled from Ireland for being a band of thieves and killers. So they burned our coat of arms and sent us to Scotland. Somehow, we ended up in Canada hundreds of years later.

Hey, that'd make us some sort of very distant cousins lol. For your mother's side, look around the city of Nauvoo Illinois, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nauvoo,_Illinois during the time your family would have set out. As it says in the article the city was close to chicago in size before the movement west. Plus most morman pioneers started from there.

Well... Half of me is Osmanian Turkish. 100 percent true Turk on my dad's side. I cant speak enough Turkish to communicate with my family though >> (The Osmanians were, as far as I know the original Turkish people. They were the ones with the pointy helmets :D)
On my mum's side though... Mostly Danish with a bit of Swedish and gypsy mixed in. I'm basically a mix of a few of the most feared races :3 (I'm very scary! Rar! X3)

I think... That back then I'd be Turkish... Possibly... *ponders*

In 17XX the forfather of my Norwegian side came to northern Norway, probably from Germany. My German side had some fiefs in the middle-ages (and 2 villages named after them) but later lost them. Now no one knows why and when the record reappears in 18xx its a normal working class family. My Norwegian side meanwhile became a huge extended family (with now between 270 and 500 members. Don't mess with us).

Were I born in the medieval era, chances are good I'd be an Irish woodsman. My last name is Underwood, apparently one of those surnames that began as a job description.

The vast majority of my father's side of the family is Irish, although some older members of his family are convinced we're directly descended from Mary, Queen of Scots. I have yet to see any concrete proof of this statement, but it would be kind of awesome if it were true. Not-so-awesome: I have an ancestor who was a Confederate infantryman. He also got shot in the collarbone and died, though. Karma?

Thanks to my mother, I've also got a good bit of Swedish and Hungarian Jewish blood, and apparently some great-great-great etc. grandfather married a Shoshone woman, so I may be very slightly Native American. In short, I'm from all over the place.

EDIT: I actually bothered to look up the name Underwood, which is indeed Scottish in origin. That makes the previous statement a little more likely, I suppose.

Oh great, ANOTHER cousin!? Lol, I kid. Seriously though, I have a ton of cousins on my mothers side. Mormons multiply like rabbits. Anyways, I'm not even sure where my family lived at the time. I *think* they joined up after the pioneers had set out. I could certainly be wrong.

Lowe or Lowen? That'd be my wager.

Well I meant the Royal line thing, You being a Lancaster, me being a York... sure they fought bitterly, but they had a lot of common ancestors. But honestly, there are some good websites that you can use, and people always seem to find interesting things when they look. Of course, I knew someone that found out he was dating his cousin... that happens too from time to time.
