Most definitely Spore. I had my expectations for it growing for years (especially from the gameplays from 2 years before release, those were awesome! But when I installed the game... ugh... First stage was what I expected it was fun. Later on it just got boring and EPICALLY dummed down. I mean i hoped that the game will put at least a bit of resistance but it was just TOO FUCKING EASY, and at the space stage there is really nothing to do. how many planets can you terraform? And how often can you say "FUCK!" when pirates are attacking your colony for the 100th time and you of course have to save it.

I was just so pissed at maxis for screwing up that game. I think I'll never recover from that disappointment.
Oh, this! So this. Years upon years of buildup only to discover that it was a slightly moist pile of excrement.

Second only to Darkfall, in my book.

Madden NFL 10. Superstar mode is a shell of its former self this year;
Instead of running the mini-games to determine your skill points, you start out with everything at 65 and allocate an extra 100 points. However, you can't siphon points out of your less important skills - I will never need to kick, but my kicking power and accuracy are stuck at 65 (that's at least 100 wasted points). I was able to make a well-rounded Halfback with a rating of a little over 90, but now I have to focus on one type (elusive, power, or receiving) and settle for around 80 overall.
Also, the Online Co-op, a feature heavily touted, has quite a few snags:
1.) Match-making seems to be very unreliable. I'm finding it nearly impossible to play with my friends.
2.) You can only play as the home team.
3.) Only the host can choose teams and uniforms.
4.) Only the host can choose plays and be the Quarterback on offense.
5.) There's a limit to how long and how many times you can pause the game.
Last, but not least, nearly all of the achievements are linked to All-Pro difficulty. Honestly, for a minute I considered trading this game back in for Madden NFL 09.

Saints Row 2 for performance issues. Clive Barker's Jericho. Don't make me say why. Medal of Honor: Airborne for dificulty and the way it treats my computer.

Spore

Age of Conan (while I didn't expect much, it was still a pretty big letdown)

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King (Being in the beta, I should have known better...)

Final Fantasy X-2 (with the money I wasted on that, I could have bought enough rope to hang myself and 4 other people with!)

Maximo (Ghosts and Goblins was a classic, taking it to 3D was a baaad move)

SOCOM: U.S. NAVY SEALs: Ugh...

Play the Demo first. I learned this is always a good idea. Bought a game that got a good review, but I didn't care for it.

Going to go a little far back for this one, but Mario is Missing.

Here I am thinking it was going to be a cool, time-traveling adventure starring Luigi (hey, I was only like 6 at the time). What do I actually get? A horrible educational game where you answer questions about history in a test-like format. No game has ever come close to disappointing me like that.

Hey I know a lot of people hate Halo. But you always have that one or two people or many groups of people that say Halo was the game sent to us by gods, because they worship the damn game. So by me announcing that I hate it, breeds these people to actually try to come back and slam me with responses telling me I have no clue what I'm talking about and preach the name of Halo as if it is some kind of religion or cult movement.

Really? I loved ME. At first I was the same as you, but one day I was bored, put it in my 360, and played for 10 hours strait.

I'm going to say Spore. I heard all my friends sing its praises and reviewers were all over it. Then I played it for 3 hours, got to the space stage, and uninstalled it.

OK, so maybe I did so after allying with the Grox, but I felt like I was only playing it because I had nothing better to do as my WoW account was suspended and I just played all the other games I owned to death.

Spore, actually that was not disappointment. More like absolute gut wrenching fury. It broke my little gamer soal. I wouldn't usually admit it but I cant lie to myself, that was such a disappointment it actually stopped me being human any more. Damn EA and Will Wright.
I would blow up EA if I could, just for that one game. And to think, only months before the release Spore was in its origional GOOD version, you can go check the beta tester thing on IGN, but infortunately, EA had thier big asses involved and fucked it over. Not to mention secure rom....

Bought Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2. Loved the first one.

Three missions in the difficulty skyrockets from "eh, it's ok" to "OMG THEIR LASERS ARE LIKE SUPER LASERS."

Owned for a week, went right back on eBay where I found it.

I thought it was alright at first, but i've gone through 3 or 4 times by now. I find the replay to be pretty awesome if you let it rest a little while.
