Ooh! I'm suffering Nightmare #2 right now! Stupid Sims 3...
Definitely not alone mate, I must have spent hours upon hours trying fixes/editing files to get my copy to work... when I'd get it to start, something else would go wrong... Oh what a fun week that was...
DID YOU DO IT!? HOW!?

5: Games like "The Graveyard" start winning awards and are held as a good example of an art game. Oh wait...
Didn't like "The Graveyard", did you? :p

The dev's follow-up to that was "The Path", which was really good, so I don't mind this situation.

EA decides to buy Valve AND SUCCEEDS.
(Granted they'll probably force Valve to choke ep.3, but I don't want them to release it until they perfected the game :D)

1. no PC gaming what so ever

4. PC gaming being ONLY MMO's or casual games

5. single player? whats that?

6. the new standard is all games are 4 hours long

7. no internet? no gaming for you!
Pretty much these. Although I could probably live with number 1, as I've never limited myself to one platform anyway.
It would be kinda sad though wouldnt it?

anyway I was thinking if I did get a console Id probably have a hard time choosing what to get for what...Id feel guilty about abondoning my PC which would probably need to be upgraded anyway
Yeah, it would.

If you can afford it why not get all of them? You see that's the wrong attitude to have. Your PC is not your girlfriend, it's not going to get jealous if you go and play on a console for a bit. And your not abandoning the PC, you're still going to game on it, aren't you?

Finding out that gaming is slowly becoming part of the education system long after I finished my education. Damn you gamification! I wanna go to high school again.

No more XP compatible games (I know this one is coming, but I am hoping it comes after I can afford to upgrade to Win 7 or what ever comes next)

Absolutely no auto saves (losing 5 hours of gameplay and going back several levels)

becoming on of those old guys reminiscing about TF2, Call of Duty games before MW5, when Half-Life was still a shooter, game controllers that don't have 6 joysticks and 42 buttons, and being able to sit down to play a game.

Logitech stops making the Trackman or similar trackballs (I am one of the few gamers I know that uses a Track ball to play)

Mine are that Dead Island ends up as bad as Left for Dead
And that Stronghold 3 sucks as hard as 2.
And any controversy when Dragon age 3 lets you have sex with dead animals or children or something.

I kept telling myself to write down all my fixes but I never ended up doing so xD What exactly is the problem you're having? I'll see if I can jog my memory for some answers.

One of the fixes I found that saved me HOURS of work was turning off DEP (Data Execution Prevention) for the Sims 3. I have Windows 7, so I'd: right click my computer > click properties > go to advanced tab > under the performance section click settings > click on Data Execution Prevention tab > click add... > navigate to The Sims 3 folder > Game folder > Bin folder > then select your Sims 3 executable file (not the launcher, but the .exe that will directly start the game) > click open > click apply and viola.

I had to do that for every expansion pack I got, but I haven't had any problems since. Let me know if that helps/what problems you're having though, it's a fun game :p

I'm having difficulties with the installation itself. Specifically, it snags and gets trapped on a "cyclic redundancy check". I think it's installing the same piece over and over again.
