Jade Empire anybody? Really? No? Was I the only one caught by surprise?
I mean, I did figure it was a bit short for a Bioware game, but I was expecting it to take another direction.

First time getting chased by freakin' ninjas in Mirror's Edge. I love that game so much.

Yup, KOTOR blew me away too.

Resident Evil.
Hallway, windows, dogs.
Pause and go change shorts.
This, definitely this. I was only watching my friend play to top it off. I think we were like 14 at the time, and it was late at night, yeah, freaked us both the hell out.

Seeing the last colossus in Shadow of the Colossus. The first time I laid eyes on that thing, I literally said out loud, "Holy shit! I gotta climb THAT? You gotta be kidding me..."
I hate that asshole. I always feel kind of bad for killing most of the other colossi but this guy, he shoots lightning balls... what a chode!!

OT: Idk about "holy shit" but I can tell you about a ... the fuckin' fuck? moment
In dragon age 2, when orsino, who I had hitherto been allied with, thought it would be a good idea to TRANSFORM INTO A FATMONSTER AND ATTACK HIS ALLIES

I was watching my cousin show off his gaming PC by playing Crysis Warhead, and he was showing off the 'Adapt or Perish' mission. He'd skipped right to the end, and there was this massive open space and a whole bunch of jeeps, and suddenly HOLY S**T WHAT THE HELL IS THAT GIANT ROBOT THING?!?! I have to say, my mind was blown by that.

The first time you enter the village in Resident Evil 4 and you have to fight for your life against the occupants of the entire vilage, standing on a roof and running out of ammo...I have never been so happy to hear a bell ring. So glad RE 4 is getting re released.

Also Uncharted 2 is full of "oh shit" moments but the bit where you are in the building and the helicopter starts attacking it, bringing it down around your ears was probably the bit where I went "holy shit, I love this game".

The first hour of Bioshock is epic. Just you, your wrench/few pistol rounds, and a whole lot of splicers. The game just created this tension that had me wanting to know what was around the next corner. Few games can do that so flawlessly.

playing as a Pilot =P

or, really, the Cathedral fight in Painkiller

Dragon Age 2: I go to my house in hightown to check my messages. Merril randomly comes into my home and wants to have sex...Uhhh...I had said nothing romantic to her or flirty, in fact I earned a good bit of rivarly with her.

A true strange moment in gaming for me.

As others have said, the KotOR twist.

Many people like to say they had guessed it, but personally I only began suspecting it when Saul Karath whispers it to Carth a few minutes before the "revelation". I think the little cutscene was really well made, with the mask and all.

Fighting Satan on paladin WHILE completing the Trial. Its not really a holy shit that just happened. It was more a of HOLY SHIT THIS IS THE MOST FUN I HAVE HAD IN A WHILE moment.

As for in a game I have to go with the Epilogue of the same game.

Mostly because I stole the game from a friend and beat it recently but still the epilogue is in my opinion one of the great cinematographic masterpieces in games as of late.

he went from like a 14-year old boy with a big destiny to a 20-year old badass with a hitlist.
I too love the Jak 2 opening, but in Jak and daxter he's 15, Jak 2 he's 17, Jak 3 he's 18 and Jak X he's 19. I know it doesn't mean much to alot of people but I was really surprised when I found out that the ages were listed in Jak X (the younger Jaks were unlockable characters)

The confrontation in Ryan's office in Bioshock. Of course I can't say what it is because it's spoilertastic, but if you've played Bioshock (and if you haven't then what the hell is keeping you?) then you know what I'm talking about.
Yes...I DEFINITELY know what your talking about.

That, and the first time I encountered the Flood in Halo:CE.
