My personal opinion is that almost everybody on this site listened to a couple of rap songs on the radio and then decided they hated it based on little more than a 3 minute exposure to the bland / tasteless / shite side of rap. It's kind of like hearing one bad heavy metal song and then deciding you hate metal, and that it is all based around worshiping Satan and killing people.

Mainstream rap is and by mainstream I mean nearly everything on the most downloaded list on iTunes. I think there is good rap, but you have to look for it. I'm talking about Chali 2na, Mos Def, Rakim, Ivan Ives, and Saul Williams to say the least.

I only listen to rap when I'm looking for something catchy to listen too.
"And the ***** say I'm hot, and I'm say no *****, i'm blazin, like what the fuck you expect i'm a motherfucking cajun" Yea, you tell em Wayne!

But, music is music, plain and simple, it doesn't have to have meaningful lyrics.

I hate modern [i/] mainstream [/i] rap, rap back when it was bearable, was once a unique form of music that spoke out against modern society and governments (kinda like the punk revolution), unfourtunatley the industry big wigs managed to get their hands around the genre and strangled it till suffocation, rap lost its meaning and has become the most generic form of music out there today, sure there still is good rap out there somewhere, but because of mainstream rap the genre is now polluted with artists like '50 Cent' (or Fiddy if you're stupid) and 'Chris Brown' (the one who beat up Rhianna and still has a career) talking about money and women. I used to care for Rap, now it is dead to me.

I hate mainstream rap vehemently. It's just about men worshiping themselves. R&B is even worse than rap is now because they actually try to convince that there lyrics aren't about emotional and sexual exploitation.

I hate %95 of rap based off lyrics content, %3 based off the retard singing it, and %1 percent because of the musical quality (using auto tune, repetitive hooks, with little content to the song)

There is a small area of rap I like, and that is mostly filleb by bands like ICP, Twiztid and Tech N9ne.

ICP and Twiztid I find utterly hilarious when they are trying to be, and when their not trying to be, their lyrics are evil, and based off of horror movie themes. A lot of people don't like them, but I consider them rap for Metal Heads.

Tech n9ne is something else, he has a lot of skill as a rapper, and is one of the best out there. He has taken to taunting the rest of the music industry about how bad the rap that they play is, and actually takes most of his music seriously and not just filling his albums with the usual sex, drugs, and gang violence. (Although he has a few, most are very well done, the song t9x is about a drug binge, and its one of his best songs.) Most of his good songs all have meaning to them, like Hope for A Higher Power, and red-nose.

I have never liked rap music or country (seriously country music brings on a clockwork orange response in me)

I've never been interested in rap until extremely recently. I've basically been listening to loads of Jay-Z since hearing Empire State Of Mind. I've listened repeatedly to the entirety of Collision Course, and plan to listen to all three Blueprint albums and The Black Album. Apart from Jay-Z though, I'm not a big rap fan :p.

Back when rap was brand new, it wasn't that bad. It's nothing I'm going to put on my iPod, but I can listen to it, maybe even enjoy some of it. But now, it's just terrible.

Can't stand it really, but what I really don't like is the fans of it. The people that think they have to play it so loud no matter where they are I can feel my ass vibrating when all I hear is that high pitched 'ting ting ting' noise and the bass shakes to nothing but a dull rumbling.

I don't really listen to rap much, but I do have a guilty pleasure in listening to Jay-Z. I have no idea why, but I really like his music. Problem?

As far of the rest of it goes, I just find it boring.
Jay-z is actually a very good musician and producer. There's a reason he got freaking Beyonce, the most beautiful woman in the world.
I'm really not all into rap, but it's not all bitches and hos and such. I love the Gorillaz, and like 50-60% of their stuff is rap. Talented musicians exist within ever genre, nu metal not withstanding.

New rap is pretty terrible. I like some of the older stuff, maybe Cypress Hill, things like that. Their music at least had, you know, a musical part to it.

In reality I'm not a very big rap fan though.
