Music, try to find something to read or watch on the internet, talk to somebody.
I think buying a new game would cure it as it distracts you.
But most of the time I just pace around my house thinking to myself.

When I really feel depressed nothing helps, nothing at all.

I stop being depressed. Working out helps too.
That's what I thought too. Sadly it didn't work out that way...oh I'm so sorry for that pun.

When I get depressed or just plain bummed out.... What I do is skate. Nothing is quite as stayisfying (horrible spelling I think) as landing a nollie heelflip. But thats just me.

Do this:
Run 50 meters.
Do 30 push-ups.
Run another 50 meters.
Do 30 sit-ups.
Repeat 26 times.
Any negative feelings will be replaced with numb searing heat.

Listening to the bloodhound gang always cheers me up, but the best way for me, honestly, is to find a girl that's obsessed with me and hang out with her. Even though nothing will happen and we both know it, it's just nice to be around someone that really really appreciates me.

Well, I would thing using some kind of mechanism to pump endorphines directly into your brain would cure it... Or use some kind of device to stimulate that area of the brain directly.

I watch all the Goren & Eames episodes of Law & Order: Criminal intent, Ice hockey or cartoons like Ren & Stimpy, Aqua teen hunger force or Lucy: The daughter of the devil and eat junk food. Nothing cheers me up quicker.

I'm using an add-on for Firefox that allows me to download all files listed on a webpage. I'm using it to mass download a bunch of old podcasts from a server, because the podcasts are no longer available on iTunes, an RSS feed or anywhere else. I don't want to right click and Save Link As every single one of them (there's hundreds), so this add-on is great.

So, I'm getting up to speeds of like 6 MB/s download speeds and it constantly gets lowered to 1.5MB/s... which is my speed cap on my Comcast Cable service :). I found myself laughing imagining Comcast going, "Oh shiz, he's utilizing his bandwidth!!! Quick, cap it, cap it now before we provide him a valuable internet service or something!"

Weird crap like that cheers me up. But sadly, I can't cheer myself up with any fail-safe method. I feel melancholy most of the time, and may randomly feel better if my brain feels like it. If you've read this far: may I present to you, one internet cookie ^^ Enjoy!

Good morning/afternoon/evening to everyone. The point of this thread is to discuss what you do when you are depressed to take your minds off things.
I listen to Greenday (those songs actually make me feel better) and play shooting games.

What do you do?
If all it takes to zstop you from being depressed is listening to some music sorry but you aren't depressed.

I find talking to people unreliable. Of 10, 3 will ignore me or snigger, 1 will act like a maniac, 4 won't be able to connect and only 2 will be able to strike up a genuine conversation. So I take to being self-sufficient:

I have a habit of gorging on snacks (MUST be crunchy) and napping. Sometimes I surf around my usual collection of sites to see if there's any material worth reading or watching, or kick down a few rounds of FPS online. Doesn't work if I fail miserably though, so I play single player in that event.

If I'm out of the house, I run. That said, I run everywhere. I don't feel depressed when there's wind in my hair accompanied by the excitement of the rush and exploration.

I've never really been depressed, but when I'm in a down mood I tend to play games which feature boatloads of enemies and really good music. Ex: Doom 2, Painkiller, Dead Rising 2, Prototype, Borderlands and Duke Nukem 3D.

I just ride it out.

My mind usually comes up with something that switches my gears.

I get depressed, think of all these different ways to make myself more depressed, and then I'll start to fight my way out of it by finding ways to excuse the things that made me depressed. Then I'm fine. Then I get depressed again. Repeat.

I eat three cookies from 7-11. Or I read Yotsuba. Or I listen to happy music.
