My desk is an absolute mess, covered in layers of junk. The weirdest things would be:

A table tennis net and bat,
A Donald Duck bath towel,
A wooly hat (We're in the middle of a heat wave.)

Dimitriov

The end is nigh.

Hmmm...

A cup of tea, a box of sugar cubes, my knife, some pencils and notebooks, LoTR extended edition box set, and some books: The Odyssey, a Tale of Two Cities, and the Bible.

Also a 32" LCDHDTV... which I am currently using as my primary computer monitor.

Aside from the monitor and speakers;

A pair of scissors, a pen, four blister packs of various medicines, an inch high stack of CDs in paper sleeves, a partitioned rack full of documents and more CDs, my mobile, an ipod classic, two bottle caps, a pencil, £4, a bank pin authenticator, a radio remote and an empty pint glass.

My Vault-Tec lunch box, three baseballs signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers before they moved to Los Angeles, a New York Yankees' 1996 world series ball, an Arizona Diamondbacks' 2001 world series ball, and just a random New York Mets' ball signed by Keith Hernandez and a couple of other players.

Other than that, it's just a photo of me and my girlfriend and my high school diploma that my mom insists I put on display.

Surprisingly barren. Keyboard, monitor, speakers, earbuds. Beside it is a very old, very feeble automated computing system.

EDIT: This is a boring answer, so this is what's on my room desk:
Several dozen pens
A homemade pincushion.
35 pins and needles.
two large stacks of blank, lined paper.
5 semesters' worth of tests, homework, notes.
1 Shakespeare book {Macbeth}.
One broken bedside lamp.
Several dozen empty chip/candy bags.
One can of root beer.
One can of coke.
Drawings I made of Magic: The Gathering art.
One empty gift bag.

Around my room/ room desk:
7 large stacks of Magic: The Gathering cards, sorted into color: Black, white, red, blue, green, artifact, multicolor.
8 Magic: The Gathering decks.
Large pile of blank lined paper.
One horrible misused chair.
One MacBook Pro, with breaking wire.
One massive tub of lego and bionicle pieces.

On/near my bed:
Messy blanket.
Two pillows.
Comfy mattress.
Several needles sticking up, not safe.
A large steak knife.
More paper.
5 books under my bed: Watchmen, Hitchhikers Guide #1, 2, 4, Bartimaues Trilogy Book 2.

You're welcome.

A tin of 'Cream of tomato & pepper soup'. Why is this weird? I don't like tomato soup.
Also, I have a dragon statuette, a letter opening blade, despite the fact I don't get letters, a metal flask, & never-worn neck-worn identity card for my sixth-form. Their plans for making every student wear one went... not so well.

less interesting stuff include a ps3 controller, Mass Effect 2, scissors which again, I never use, a few mugs (in case of a tea emergency, possibly the reason for the flask as well) my oyster card. All squashed together really, with my 32" TV which I use as my monitor on it as well, of which the distance I can see and the distance between me and the monitor being almost identical being a complete coincidence.

There is an image in the spoiler tags.

It's kind of a mess in my eyes, but sounds clean from what I've been reading. Don't you dig my speakers? Beige is in, right?

A DJ table. I'm not joking. My dad just put it there and's been using my desk for its storage space ever since.

A green shark stapler.
I think we have the same stapler. Is it ever so slightly see-through (so you can see the inside part) with googly eyes?

OT: Well my desk which was slightly too large was recently taken by my sister to serve as a dining table in her new house. So I'll tell you what WAS on it.

One of my Ikea bookshelves, my dvd player and PS2 (my xbox 360 is downstairs) a kukri machete, my trilby (though that usually sits on my end bedpost.) and an increasing amount of bowls and glasses.

If you want something present, I will tell you what is on all my shelves. A large number of books (I won't bore you with a list.) My Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy DVD set, a rather nice wooden box containing my pipe, my kukri, my weights and three empty glass bottles, which I will soon use to rack off some homemade cider. Yum.

Edit: The wooden box just has my pipe in it, everything else is just on the shelves.
