District 9, The Thing (I can't stop watching it), and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, does this count?

Alien And Aliend 2 gave birth to Halo.

The Assualt Rifle, the Pelican, the Marines Design, The Aliens themselves. They all came from the movie. Perhaps more...
This is basically a big fat sign saying: 'SCI-FI LUVER! QUOTE ME PLZ!'

Now, I will argue away. There is a BIG difference in their rifles

The Dropship ( which is from Starship Troopers. I'll explain this later ) from Aliens was actually "inspired" by a Vietnam Helicopter. Now it does look slightly similar so you have this one.

The Aliens? Elites don't look like the aliens. I'm sure thats what you're talking about.

Looks similar? I don't think so. As for the body? They didn't invent the alien humanoid body.

Also, James Cameron used the Starship Troopers book and Vietnam as a refernce for Aliens. Everyone had to read Starship Troopers before filming or similar. Hence "The Drop" and "Bug Hunt"

I love Science Fiction threads

OT: Starship Troopers. Followed by Aliens.

War of the Worlds (the newest one - with Cruise) is my favorite alien themed movie. I know that is probably an unpopular choice, but I really enjoyed it.
I can't ever take that movie seriously, for two reasons.

One, the first time I ever saw it was on a badly copied dvd, filmed in a russian cinema. The part where someone throws a sandwich at the window made someone n the audience laugh, and it sounded a hell of a lot like Jabba the Hut.

Second, it'll never beat the Jeff Wayne version, which I first heard at my grandparents when I was ill, on four vinyl disks. Good times.

My favourite alien movie would have to be... well, there were aliens in the latest Star Trek, so I'll go with that.

The very opening scene is of a something in space crashing in mid-west America. It is only an assumption, but to me that means that the Grabboids are aliens.
Grabboids are not aliens. The very opening scene is Earl sleeping in the truck and kevin bacon wakes him by bouncing on the truck and yelling stampede.
I'm starting to doubt myself now. I have checked a few transcripts online and they agree with you. However, I have an old VHS version that has the intro that I mentioned before the "proper" intro.

If I can find a VCR and the video I will definitely hook it up and somehow prove that I am not crazy. Till then I will happily sit in the corner and be ole gibberin' Batfred.

I'm gonna get hell for this but... Independence Day. I just think Roland Emmerich is really under-appreciated.

EDIT Unless I can count Star Wars.

It's a good movie, nothing wrong with some popcorn fun.

Aliens, its not even close. That movie is the best one out of all the Alien movies and out of every movie that has aliens.

Plan 9 From Outer Space. Best damn alien movie ever made.

Brain Dead, The Last Starfighter and Star Wars tie for second place.

[Edit]
Ooh, ooh, I gotta throw Mars Attacks in there too. Bloody hilarious, that flick. Far better than independance day (aka America Wanks Itself Off to Its Own Ego).

S'if some douchebag yank is gonna be the first to find that the alien ships can be hacked. Some script kiddie in europe or asia woulda been leeching their bandwidth to download porn within 10 mins of first contact.
