Hello Escapist! I come witha simple question. Who is your favorite Avenger (movie verse) and why?

I put my money on Clint Barton/Hawkeye. I choose him because even if he doesn't have superpowers, he was awesome. A great asset to the team, and it's great to see a superhero with layers.

Also because Jeremy Renner is very attractive, but whatever

I was really surprised by how much I liked Hawkeye and Black Widow. I thought they'd fade into insignificance next to the mighty Thor, Hulk et al but I thought they were great, and the interesting chemistry between them definitely makes me want to see more of them.

I agree this has absolutely nothing to do with my decision. ahem.

Tony Stark/ Iron man. He is just so fantastically flawed in the "movie verse" of the Avengers. I mean to like a guy for the flaws he has? Yeah that is awesome, it just might be love.

Cap. Always. He's been my favorite long before Chris Evans ever donned the Stars and Stripes. Though since the Cap flick, Evan's version of him has found a special place in my heart. He plays the guy to a T.

From the movie-verse? Thor played by Chris Hemsworth. He's a sexy, sexy man. Also, he's a God! He didn't ragdollize Loki but his action scenes were great and, DAMN is he easy on the eyes.

Black Widow gets points too mainly because she didn't use the obvious line during the interrogation scene (you know the one: 'I'm a little tied up at the moment'). I also love how she mind-fucked Loki but Thor is my number one.

I really want to say Thor because he's my favourite Avenger in the comics. But we're talking movie verse where he has thus far been kind of underwhelming. So to answer your question, I'm going to have to go with the either Iron Man or Hulk.

Obviously Captain America; why you ask? Because his only super power is basically being as good as a human can possibly be physically, and also being a damn good leader and tactician. He makes everyone on the Avengers better, therefore he is the best force multiplier on the team.

I made a similar thread in the last month, as a jokey response to a pony thread. Please use the Forum Search Bar, and post if a thread is less than a month old.

OT: Hulk in this movie, followed by Hawkeye and Black Widow

Movie Avengers? I am disappointed, so little to choose from and the dullest ones too. My favorite is either Ant Man, Giant Man, Goliath, Yellowjacket, or the male Wasp.

Yes, Hank Pym for the win!

EDIT: Vision is number two.

Probably Captain America. He has no idea how electricity works, but tenacity and the desire to do good for it's own sake earns him a lot of points.

I'd have to say Cap.
I like his idealism, even in a very cynical world, and the "man out of time" aspect of his story is deeply interesting.

Plus in the movies he's proven to be a kickass tactical leader and a kickass ass kicker. And Chris Evans totally owns the part, perfect casting as Cap.

In terms of the film, I really liked Cap. Not only because he has a great character, but because he is pretty under powered compared to people like Thor or Iron Man, yet could still hold his own in a confrontation with at least one of them.
Also, he seems to be made of old school film badassery, which was probably intentional.

Thor.

Now let me go back to quivering every time Chris Hemsworth so much as... well... does anything. I have never had a thing for anyone, ever, the way I do him. It's like I'm twelve again whenever I see him on TV or something - I get all hot and sweaty and awkward.

...

Also, I studied Norse Mythology and would say I prefer the Thor movie over either Iron Mans or Captain America. Will hold some judgement until I see what Ruffalo does with the Hulk, though.

Captain America. He just hits the right note with me. He's a badass, yes, but not as powerful as the rest of the Avengers.

It's his character that I like. He is, as his movie states, "a good man". He just wants to protect the innocent; he "doesn't like bullies, no matter where they're from".

And though his physical abilities are the product of a super-soldier serum, they aren't what make him a hero. His sheer willpower, his refusal to give up in the face of adversity are what make him great. If it weren't for those qualities, he would have begged the scientists to shut off the machine when he was first being given his powers. Instead, he yelled "No, I can do this!" when they tried to stop the experiment. Despite the pain, he was willing to do what was necessary in order to stand up for his ideals.

That went on a little longer than expected. Basically, I like Cap the best because out of all the Avengers, he is the best role model. Seriously, wouldn't the world be a lot better if more people just tried to be good? If we looked out for other people, not just ourselves?
