I didn't mean it as "The band sucks if it's well known." Calm down, mate. I meant "non-mainstream" as "Not known to everyone". I never said I hated Metallica. I don't think I deserved the entire "pretentious bullshit" comment, especially seeing as I believe I did define "non-mainstream" earlier on. For example, Metallica. I like them. They're kind of overplayed, in my opinion, though. They've still got good music. It's not about "loving or hating", it's about trying outside of the usual spectrum. You really ought to actually try reading some of the comments before calling names, you know?benzooka said:Non-mainstream. Non-mainstream?
I honestly don't give a fuck if a band or an artist is the most well known, or the most underground ever.
That's just some pretentious bullshit. Like hating or loving something because it's popular or not.
And now I'll give you the chance.someonehairy-ish said:Pffft tis all ultra mainstream!!Small Waves said:Non-mainstream:
1. Number Girl (popular in Japanese indie rock circles)
2. 808 State
3. Mass of the Fermenting Dregs
4. Motoro Faam
5. Owen Pallett (Helped work with popular artists such as Arcade Fire, but solo output has little mainstream recognition)
6. DJ Technorch
7. Neil D. Voss
8. cLOUDDEAD
9. Tame Impala (rising to mainstream status)
10. Mouse on the Keys
I jest, I've never heard of any of these.

Mine's CLUTCH, an American Metal group. From "Transnational Speedway" to "Strange Cousins from the West", they have yet to disappoint me.
You tickle me.chickencow said:Gorillaz. Are they mainstream?
