Flogging Molly. noone I know has heard of them.
Quite a lot of people have heard of them but have not noticed it [if that makes sense :))] as it is one of the main songs in tony hawks pro skater four
Pro skater 4 was actually where I first heard their music (And my favourite ever song drunken lullabies if you were on that recent forum) Though it wasn't 'til a long couple o' years later when I heard salty dog on a pirates of the carribean montage video and a flash collab on newgrounds (Pirate of course!) and thought "This sounds familiar". And I've been a fan ever since. But with what you were saying about their popularity I haven't found a single person here in Aus who's heard about them when favourite bands come up in the conversation.

i understand where your coming from, most of my mates wouldn't have them in their top 5 bands, but they are still a band that they know and love (as everyone should:p!) Personally, and im probablly wrong, i think it's cause they don't advertise much, don't get played on the music channels and they don't do world tours (as far as i know), which means nobody gets to here them :(

In one word, BUMBLEFOOT
Unbelievably proficient guitarist/singer/songwriter/producer, who transcends genres, from grunge, through country, jazz, metal, hip-hop and ragga, all the way to cheezy lounge, funk and opera, sometimes all in the same song! - Check out T-Jonez, Crunch, Don Pardo Pimpwagon, Ick, Bagged a big one and Guitars SUCK ...anyone who can play fretless guitar with a thimble, and blow the usual shredders like Vai & Satriani out of the water, and lyrics that match Zappa for humour, has GOT to be checked out!

Daisy Chainsaw was also mentioned. - Love yer Money is truly epic!
Everyone who`s followed the new GN`R will know who bumblefoot is

I love Band Of Horses, and No One's Gonna Love You is from Cease To Begin, not Everything all The Time. Annoying Youtube video's!

One's I have youtube links for:
Josh Pyke: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFbkncgKugM
Modest Mouse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1QqQ5KaNBU
Death Cab For Cutie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9JB2ETgatI
The Dangerous Summer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3yiUbzm0ME

One's without:

I know some people (me included) who like Modest Mouse and Death Cab for Cutie, but then again, you may only be talking about in you area.

For me, its Screaming Mechanical Brain. I do not know anyone who has heard of this band besides me, my brother, and his friends (only because my brother told them about them) thats really it.

The only people I know that know who Death Cab, and Modest Mouse are, are people I have introduced. I think the irish kind of suck when it comes to knowing good music.

Well now I know why many people don't know about them, in your case.

No one I know has heard of the Vines, which I find strange and extremely annoying.

I'm with you on this one, they're such a fantastic band, and Highly Evolved is an incredible album.

Personally, I'd go with Idlewild:
El Capitan : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jRMxYGACvA
Everyone Says You're So Fragile: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcU2c-0rSoc

Or King Creosote:

Must not sleep. Must warn others.
You get a cookie for mentioning him, I love Aesop. Also, any good PS2 gamer who played Tony Hawk 4 will know him too, his track Labor was in it.

For my entries, first there's this group called Bruit Vert (I think they changed it to Big Mac now) who are a kickass group. It's just two members, one on bass and one on drums, but they're both sick at their instruments and have crazy shows.

They subscribe to the Lightning Bolt theory of live shows, that is, don't put yourself up on a stage, have the audience surround you. They set up their stage right in the middle of wherever they're playing and allow the crowd to gather close. Hell, half the time the drummer needs and audience member to help keep his set together. It's a great time.

if you're interested.

Another great musician who I feel deserves a lot more credit than he gets is The Roots's guitarist Captain Kirk Douglas. He's a great player, his MySpace has some really good stuff on it.

True, but are they aware of what Bumblefoot has done in the past?

...and not knocking GnR or their fanbase, but BBF is a LOT more restricted in what he can do in the band, than when he is doing his own stuff....plus, the inevitable comparisons between him & Buckethead means that the GnR fanbase might not be so willing to check out the stuff he did before he was recruited to Guns & Roses.

Anybody?

I don't actually like them, but I find the novelty gore nature of their songs slightly amusing.

I've seen them live a few times. I think Neil is a pretty funny guy.

My favorite band that no one i know excluding one friend knows of or listens too is Electric Six and I feel like a broken record saying it because I dunno how many times I have!
These are the songs that made me start listening to them
Everyone knows Gay Bar! Well, here at least. I've seen them live (with Tragedy supporting) and I'm seeing them again soon.

Speaking of Tragedy, here's the No.1 Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees

Universal Hall Pass are strangely unfamilar to the masses, as are 6 Days Later and they're two of my favourite bands.
