Blood Meridian - Cormac McCarthy. Incredible.

The amount of 'Watchmen' on this thread is a little sickening...

Anything by Stephen King really. But if i had to choose one, i would choose The Dark Tower series. Best series of books ever, and by far his best work, IMO.

Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, anything by Kurt Vonnegut is also win.

I've also read One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Fight Club, they were pretty sweet.

Ohh... favorite books. Gimme a second here.

The Hobbit was probably my first 'favorite book'.
World War Z is an amazing read, and really well written!
Anthem by Ayn Rand is great.
The Necronomicon is a must, of course. (Really, it's a collection of H.P. Lovecraft stories)
Watchmen may be a little overrated since the movie, but it still packs a punch!

Call me immature, but I like most of Christopher Moore's books. Specifically "A Dirty Job" and "Lamb".

I know it's a kids book, but it never fails to bring the kid out in me.

"Captain Underpants" Any of them, don't care....

Discworld series, a carnival mirror image of our own

The Edge Chronicles, might be for "younger" readers but it contains blood, undead and sky pirates.

Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk because of the way it makes you think. I will always love this book no matter what.

I don't know about a favourite book... Imagine, if you will, a massive ladder with different authors standing on each step. Towards the bottom we have those ones I never really got into, like Dan Brown. Further up, Eoin Colfer, Tamora Pierce. Towards the top, Darren Shan, Cristopher Paolini, Anthoney Horrowitz. At the top, we have Matthew Reilly and Dean Koontz fighting for top place, but neither one can push the other off. So, favourite Reilly book, Scarecrow. Favourite Koontz book, oh god I don't know. Lets say Phantoms.

Scarecrow is my fave Matthew Reilly book too! Along with Seven Ancient Wonders. Hell, along with ALL Matthew Reilly books!

Trying to be original, which whittled away I am Legend, Chuck Palhniuk, and HP Lovecraft.

Solaris by Stanislaw Lem. It's the anti-space opera. Contends that even if we found aliens, we would never be able to communicate with them in a meaningful manner, or even recognize them as sentient. The alien being a metaphor for God, of course. Kind of like tragedy with the Buggers taken to logical extremes.
Is there a movie based on the book? With George Clooney

My favorite Book is Illusion by Paula Volsky. Its Low fantasy Story takes place in a revolution similar to french one where magic is only illusions. She has written other stories based on that each country has its own form of magic.

I love book series more than just a singular book. My favorites are the Seventh Tower, Maximum Ride (my favorite), Artemis Fowl (I really have to get back into reading those...) and the Halo books (I've only read three, but I love them)
