I like fighing games where one style or weapon isn't the end all be all. SC 2 and 4 are great fighters, i also like the Virtual Fighter games.

Guilty Gear X2 Reload.

Not that I'm a connoisseur of the genre, but of everything I've played, GG is by far my favorite.

This is probably because everything is so off the wall, with every character being very different yet still (somewhat) balanced.

Plus, I've defeated Justice on Maniac difficulty with Zach, best 2 of 3.

One of the Guilty Gears. I'm a sucker for the Rock Soundtrack.

Super Smash Bros, all of them, although I haven't had the honor of playing Brawl as of yet...

I never liked the more "hardcore" style of fighting games and I love the huge (in comparison at least) maps that are available in SSB.
SSBB is a good one. And is my current favorite fighting game.
EDIT:reason, because I have yet to have horrible lag on wifi. I've had smooth online play

Mortal Kombat 3 would be my all time favorite but Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max comes in pretty close as well and at a distant third Marvel Vs Capcom 2.

Tekken Tag Tournament, simply because I hadn't played anything like that ever before when it first came out.
I spent many hours wasting time on that with friends, it was pure joy and Lee was awesome as usual.

Guilty Gear X:Reloaded.
Crazy, crazy fighter that can have you screaming and cursing in frustration at combos and laughing at character antics all at the same time.
Pretty fun.

This (minus the "I haven't played Brawl" bit, I play it every day).
Smash Bros. is truly awesome.

My favourites are DOA2 Ultimate and Soul Calibur 2. I haven't really enjoyed the sequels as much as these two.

My personal favorite is Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, followed Soul Calibur IV, both great games with tons of playablility.

Post your own, and be sure to tell why.
I'm going with the Tekken Series, I find it has the most intuitive control style - the four face buttons are the four limbs. Simple but brilliant. I find the characters varied but also balanced which I find is a where other series stumble. There are a few misteps- Dr. B, The Gordo Family, Tekken 4.

This thread screams for a poll.
Street Fighter II will win.

Bloody Roar: Extreme, "Stun, the Insect!" (P2 costume), once I figured how to dodge, I really began to like the game, that and I also enjoyed playing the demo version of BR II pre 2000. The story, however....meh.

Soul Calibur II (GC), the story mode was beautifully done, in my opinion. It didn't really seem to matter that they reused the characters, that, and I loved the writing, it was just a fun adventure.

BR Extreme characters: Stun the Insect, Fang the Wolf, and the Cat-Girl, sweet Jesus, that character is insane, one combo after the other...

SC II characters: Assassin (Go blue assassin!), Raphael, Nightmare (Woo!), Yoshimitsu, and Charade (P2 costume)

Capcom vs. SNK 2. The console version was better. The arcade one had a horrendous glitch during the evade move that was just cheating.

I liked Marvel vs. Capcom 2, especially when I had an arcade near my house. My favorite was he "Blue" team, Chun-Li and Jill Valentine and Cyclops. I hated when someone else came to play against me and picked Magneto or Storm or any of the garbage characters. I mean, your a mid 20's to 30's year old man and you put in a quarter to cheat your way into beating a 12 year old at a cartoon fighting game? I damn near cried after that.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max on the PSP. That thing has a HUGE roster of fighters and I love how you can choose from 3 different fighting styles. Also, each character has at least 3 special combos.
