Either Tekken 3 or Soul Calibur 2 - to close to call which one I prefer.

Speaking of Soul Calibur - why Yoda? Give me Spawn back, I beg you. DLC would be lovely if it meant Spawn making a comeback. Despite the ridiculously overpowered final weapon, he was a brilliant character, and it's taken me a while to get used to my new character in Soul Calibur 4 - Kilik. He's good, don't get me wrong, but he's got nothing next to Spawn.

King of Fighters. Right now I'm gonna say KoF XI, but '98 Ultimate Match might change my mind.

You can't not like Oswald, Kyo and Yuri. It's characters like that that make KoF so much more than a Street Fighter-alike. Not to mention all the improvements the actual fighting system has on Street Fighter, like running. Seriously, I never got why running wasn't a part of SF games. KoF also generally does a much better job with not overusing projectiles in their fighting games. Some characters have absolutely no projectile attacks (which is awesome, in my opinion).

Super Smash Bros, all of them, although I haven't had the honor of playing Brawl as of yet...

I never liked the more "hardcore" style of fighting games and I love the huge (in comparison at least) maps that are available in SSB.

SSBM is my favourite, give Brawl a try before purchasing it, I say that because of it's shitty gameplay!

3.Mortal Kombat series. My favourite (although not 100% Mortal Kombat) is Mortal Kombat vs DC universe.
4.Soul Caliber seires. My favourite is Soul Caliber 4.

2nd last. Smash Bros series. My least favourite being Melee.
Equal last. Virtua Fighter and DoA.

everyonekeeps raving about the smash bros games. To me, keep in mind ive never played smash bros, it looks like a poor mans powerstone. Has any one played a lot of both and give me their thoughts?

Dont think Ill buy new console for one game but I played the shit out of powerstone 2...

I bet everyone that posted likes the games they picked because there weapons and powers and shit, DOA is straight up hand to hand and the fighting is fucking intense.

It stops being intense the moment you realize that you can basically interrupt hitstun with parries. Then everybody starts turtling.

Turtling itself isn't the problem, of course, but the fact that it becomes just about the only valid thing to do in DOA. Makes for some pretty boring matches.

Tekken Tag hands down. Me and my friends have put more hours into that game then tekken 3 and SF2 combined. And thats not easy to do.

By far the most definitive Street Fighter game.

Any of the smash brothers games... except the newest. Haven't got the milage out of that one as I have the other two so it's not quite up to their standards in terms of gameplay yet.

King of Fighters XI. The combat system works really well, the cast is huge spanning the entire history of the series, the boss is still cheap as all heck but hey.

Tekken Tag Tournament, simply because I hadn't played anything like that ever before when it first came out.
I spent many hours wasting time on that with friends, it was pure joy and Lee was awesome as usual.

I remember playing that at fudruckers years back! 1st arcade fighter experience.

Guilty Gear X:Reloaded.
Crazy, crazy fighter that can have you screaming and cursing in frustration at combos and laughing at character antics all at the same time.
Pretty fun.

Meaning any battle against Faust?

I gotta say my favorites the Guilty Gear series. The characters, gameplay, and style is so incredibly diverse. Not a single character does anything remotely the same as the other. The game is so deep and rewarding. Learning a different character is almost like learning a different fighting game. Not to mention how incredibly balanced the characters are against eachother. Aside from Slayer, Eddie and Testament its nearly impossible to make a tier list its such a dead heat.

I'm also a fan of the Soul Calibur series particularly 3. That instalment felt like it had so much more depth then the others. I was dissappointed at 4 cause it felt like they threw it all away for graphics.
