Mass Effect (Epic ending to an epic game.)
Ace Combat Zero (Pixy comes to terms with himself and the true tale of Cipher is made known)
Condemned: Criminal Origins (Mindf*** FTW!)
KotOR (Good, bad, who cares, you're Revan.)
Twilight Princess (You know you cried.)
Metal Gear Solid 4 (Snake decides to live life, and almost everyone gets a happy ending. Almost)
I'm gonna have to disagree with that last one. Yes, everyone lives happily ever after. But that felt so at odds with the depressing "this is my last battle" tone of the game. And it's SUCH an asspull. There is NOTHING in the pre-credits that leads to the post-credits scenes.
Taking it into spoilers:
If Raiden and Snake had died it would have given it a wonderful bittersweet ending. The world is saved, the patriots defeated, but at a cost. As it is they both live. THROUGH MAGIC. Robbed it of any emotional impact.

Seconding Twiligh Princess. Fantastic epic boss fights, with horrendous emotional weight. I've never felt such rage as when
Ganon crushed Midna's helmet
It's good when a game makes you really HATE the villain.

Conker's Bad Fur Day here.

Probably the most unexpected ending that I've ever seen in a game. Youtube it... or better yet buy the game because it was hilarious. (Okay... so maybe most of you don't have an N64, and the Xbox versiou butchered a lot of the humor, but it is still one of the funniest damn games I've ever played.)

Endings that give closure, not a cliff hanger. *stares at CoD 4* mind you it was a good, no, great game. It was just that the ending was a little, uh...well, whack.

Saints row 2 had a pretty nice ending. ( not the secret one)

And actually i liked how Fallout 3 ended.

Whats so wrong with a game actually ENDING. Thats it. You won the game. Wanna dick around? sure, just use the most recent save before taking he last quest.
The fact that Fallout 3 was classed as "RPG" says it all.
That's the problem with it ending. RPGs aren't meant to just END and not let you play afterwards.
I dunno about you, but if I play RPGs, I play them so I can go back and do stuff after finishing the main story line.

OT: Kinda tough to decide...

Probably MGS3, the fact that I didn't have to play anymore to finish it was quite fun.

God of War II made me standup and pump my fist and yell. Most exciting ending I've ever experienced.

Shadow of the Colossus' ending was beautiful. Open enough for you to draw your own conclusions, but it gave enough detail to frame your conclusions.

Midpoint shockers in Bioshock and Call of Duty 4 were extremely good examples of putting the player in the character's shoes.

I'm surprised to see people saying they enjoyed Majora's Mask ending. It wrapped things up, but it wasn't unique. I was actually dissapointed I wasn't able to go back into Clock Town to see everyone at peace with no threat of the moon squashing them into oblivion.

MGS4, an epic ending to my favourite series of all time. some crappy Raiden spin off is on PS3.
MGS: Rising? its for the 360, if thats what you meant. i think you did a little typo there, mate.
Nope PS3 and 360. So we're both half right, even though I knew it was for both.

Final Fantasy X's ending for me, even though it was a sad one.
It was an extremely good story, IMHO. The ending was the icing on the cake!

Then came FF X-2 and now I want to die.

LOL Yeah FFX had such an awesome ending, but then FF X-2 came around and I wanted to tear out my eyes and throw them in a blender.

I would also have to say Half life 2 and both of the episodes had awesome endings.

Oh and duh of course Star Wars Kotor is on that list as well.

I liked the good ending for Mass Effect
[good as in, save the council and whatnot]

I also like the endings of Knights of the Old Republic but I find that the Dark Side ending doesn't match up with the beginning of Knights of the Old Republic 2 >.>

The (good) ending of Chrono Cross was good, but slightly saddening. It was a bit confusing the first time through, but after I played through a couple (15) more times it became understandable.

I liked the ending of Battlefield: Bad Company. It reminded me in all the right ways of Kelly's Heroes (except for the helicopter bit, but I'll leave that aside). Thus far it's my favorite, but there are a lot of video games I haven't beaten yet.

would have to say that i have no favourite game ending. but i love those endings where there is an extra bit addedd onto the ending that you can only unlock by doing something specific, like completeing a game on the hardest setting. makes it all the more satisfying

The ending of Hotel Dusk: Room 215. It's bittersweet, but mostly sweet. All of the characters have human happy endings; that is to say, it's no fairy tale, not everything works out the way they want, but things are still okay, and they come to appreciate the little things that they've already got. Every time I beat Hotel Dusk, I'm always as happy and satisfied as I was the first time I beat it.

I've enjoyed lots of game story endings, but the one that had the most impact, and has lasted the longest is Link's Awakening back on Gameboy. The amount of young emotional attachment I'd invested in the characters on the island meant finding out they all were figments of the wind fish's dreaming imagination put a genuine lump in my throat. Oh, and the score helped with that impact as well.

Thinking them through, pretty much all the Zelda games had excellent endings from Link to the Past onwards.
