I don't think people will still read my posts when the thread is this long, but maybe I can give some advise on some obscure games. I can safely say you will never have heard of these two:

Motorhead - Not the rockband, the computergame and it has nothing to do with rock either. It's the most pretty looking futuristic racer I've ever seen. Made in 1998 by Gremlin, the same studios that made Lotus: the ultimate challenge. (a less obscure racing game) You probably can't find this game anywhere for buy or download (I couldn't anyway), maybe 1 or 2 hits on e-bay for almost free (that's where I found it). It runs on XP, but blows up in your face on Vista and 7.

Gley Lancer - I don't know who came up with the title. It's a side-scrolling plane shoot 'm up. One of the best I've ever seen. I think it can be considered abandonware. Find a Sega Genesis/megadrive emulator and then google the ROM.

I also have the bad habit of searching out failed hardware, like the Sega Saturn and Philips CDI. No, really, I have two of those at home with games. I might be able to go on for hours with obscure games, but these are my most favourite obscure two.

its been mentioned a couple of times, but impossible creatures was full of awesome.

Also, space rangers 2 is just about my favorite game ever, and the only people i know who have heard about it head of it through me.

Conquest frontier wars. Good space RTS, however, turns freaking HARD halfway through. Like impossibly hard. I gave up after I watched my friend fail to win while using every non-instant win cheat that was useful.

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Sven Stars.

It's not that well known, and that kinda pisses me off.

Also Tropico 3, fuck you and your Civilization V, I'm sticking with good 'ol El Presidente.

Edit: Oh yeah, there's also Strong Bad Cool Game for Attractive People. Best Adventure game ever.
Are you kidding? Super Mario Rpg was one of the highest selling games for the Super Nintendo.

I put my hat in for the Disciples series. It was a turn based strategy game and it was awesome

Praetorians. I don't think it's my favorite but it was a lot of fun and I'm pretty sure no one will know of it.
I played that.
Red star for the ps2.

I have heard of it but tbh I preferred the Rise of the Red's mod! Was a shame one of the leaders of the mod sadly passed away so dev has slowed up considerably.
Really? RotR was good, but without the different Generals it got kinda boring after awhile. My hopes is that the next update adds the new Generals and the European Continental Army.

I'm gonna have to go with some obscure Dreamcast games like:

Omikron: The Nomad Soul-Fun story driven game that I never got around to finishing because my controller had a weird glitch where it would stop responding after about an hour or so of playing.

Zombie Revenge - Zombie shooter that tried to cash in on the craze that was House of the Dead at the time, but on a console.

That doesn't make either of these games bad, but I doubt they are well known.

Also, unless you are a hardcore FF fan, most people have not heard of Final Fantasy: Legend II on the GameBoy...which is ironic because I didn't even know there was a Legend I but I found out when I got older that there was xB

Well I would say for "now gen" would be Demon's Soul's

but if you I have to choose out of any generation it would be E.V.O. Search for Eden for the SNES

that game is awesome!

Warhammer: Battle march - Great RTS that NOBODY played.

Vampires the Masquerade: bloodlines - Game brilliance, so good that when the maker went under (a few months after release) it didn't stop the much needed patches from coming out, In my opinion as good as the original deus ex. And made in a similar structured style. RIP Troika Games.

Lastly Dungeon keeper 2; "You have an excess of mistresses; there's a word for keepers like you."
:p
Lots of fun, at one point well known and mixed elements of FPS, Adventure, and RTS nearly seamlessly, and full up with random humor. "Micro-piglets stalk your dungeon BEWARE!"

I'll go with Trap Gunner (PSX). It was an amazing game and the perfect upgrade to the Bomberman formula in that each selectable character had unique trap loadouts and attributes, with the disarmable traps being able to be combined in a myriad of pants wettingly fun ways. A re-make for XBL/PSN, or even just a re-release of the original game from either, would be amazing.. and would probably hit it extremely big as it would be the perfect game for quick but deep online play.

Shadowrun without a doubt. why did everyone hate on it. it was sooo awesome
Which Shadowrun are you referring to? I don't recall many people at all complaining about the SNES and Genesis versions. In fact, they're often named as some of the best games of the 16 bit era. If you mean the 360 version, however, it's probably because most long time Shadowrun fans (myself included) believe the re-imagined universe and single note competitive FPS gameplay totally went against, well, everything the property had stood for to that point.

Summoner...I bet everyone has seen the cover, but few have actually played it.
That has to be my favorite RPG ever. its a damn shame the summoning system went incomplete, but other than that the story was amazing and I loved the world itself almost as much as I loved Rapture.

I really liked Whiplash, although only me and my old friend had ever heard of it/ played it. It was the best game I had ever played where your primary weapon is an invulnerable rabbit chained to your wrist.

Also, as I always bring it up, I feel the need to mention Okami. A lot of people seem to have heard of it, they just didn't buy it. I urge everyone to rectify that immediately. Hell, I even bought it twice.

Escape Velocity Nova - I know a couple people who have played it, but it's a pretty niche product.
Playing through the Polaran Storyline gets me some sweeet equipment!
Cloaking devices, anybody?

I rented it, sadly. Great game; it was so good it even got me over not being able to rent the latest final fantasy of the time, which disappointed me greatly.
