This is going to show my age, but...

when I was young, and dinosaurs wore jerry-curls, there was the Commodore-64 game BREAKDANCE. It was so horrid: the men on screen looked like epileptics and the music sounded like farts. It was so horrible. But I COULD NOT STOP PLAYING IT! How could I not? It was an early rhythm game, and it was shite (but addictive in a car-accident-mauled-by-bears-sort-of-way).

THUS, MY HUMILIATION WAS BORNE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fT-zK_Kvzc

Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, yeah, I actually kind of enjoyed the game at some points.
Yes. Me too. I have played this game like three times. I KNOW it's just cashing in on a popular franchise and that it butchers the characters sooo bad. WHY DO I LIKE PLAYING IT? 8C
I hated the game too. But, it had some nice music (the guy even went on to do FFXIII), and the environments were pretty, even though they were linear and rigged to hell with invisible walls...

All Terrain Racing for the Amiga.

I remember Amiga Power tearing it to shreds for the ludicrous difficulty and confusing track layouts, but I loved it.

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace

Have played countless games that were better since then. But I loved the levels like Mos Espa where things could become GTA Star Wars. But looking back on it years later, the story was hilariously padded, the combat was pretty tedious and clunky and the camera angle was odd, at best.
Good memories, though.

The original Call of Duty. It's bland, the characters are without backstory, there's the usual bit of destroying the entire German army on your own, and the levels suck. Wait, there is one quite brilliant exception: the first level of the Soviet campaign in Stalingrad, even though that was hampered by the fact that you're the protagonist, ergo you would make it across the Volga unscathed. Still fun for blowing off a bit of steam every now and then...
I actually consider it the best, and it's the only game I'll ever quote a Eurogamer article on (we fell out after they called both Mafia games GTA clones - yes, they're that stupid):

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/call-of-duty-retrospective

The concluding paragraph says it perfectly (this was written around MW2's release, just for context):

"Never mind the fact that they might have just made the biggest-selling videogame of all time. Playing the original game again, I feel like this series could have been more than that."
I guess I shouldn't call CoD a horrible game, because it isn't, but it is one of the blandest, stupidest, most unrealistic, and most boring games out there. I will stand by that summary. We all have different opinions, of course, and I can completely understand somebody liking the gameplay of CoD (and I'll happily concede that the Stalingrad level was brilliant). That said, the concluding paragraph (of the article I mean) resulted in me exclaiming "well no shit!" It could only be "more," because everything was reduced to meet the expectations of the lowest common denominator. A real ww2 story, with a young soldier rapidly losing what little innocence he had in the face of the horrors of war packaged inside a realistic (ie no depopulating entire cities on your own) shooter would have been a truly great game. Sadly, that's not what we got...

Indigo Prophecy.

"Huh. This is interesting. I wonder what the explanation behind all this weird stuff happening is?"

(Explanation worthy of a SyFy movie of the week follows)

"...Oh."

A game known as Akuji. God I thought that game was horrible but me and my friend would have so much fun with it. We would just play and joke about it. This was during the time when games did the sound test thing. So me and my friend would just repeat "Akuji" being under 10 Akuji made us think of a coochie. Also there is another game called LSD. I played the Bleemcast version and god was it horrible but so funny to laugh at the mechanics and how bad it sucked. This was also a game me and my friend played together.
Lastly a launch title that came before the console, Blue Stinger. Just like the previous titles it was horrible so we just laughed our asses off to it.

Akuji
LSD

Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness was, considered on its own merits, absolute shite.

Playing it together with my sister, however (how we played all the TR games) was made of as much win as all the others =)

If I could remember all the craptacular games I played on Genesis and NES I would have a field day with this. Luckily I didn't get too many bad games with the SNES.

I would have to say Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. Its terribly repetitive and played solely for gaining levels, but it gets the very best of nostalgia for me.

A game is horrible for a reason.
Don't be such a stick in the mud. There are some games people enjoy despite the majority of others saying it is absolute rubbish.

Two Worlds, Resident Evil, Assassin's Creed etc.
assassins creed is actually quite highly rated... a 90 on metacritic usually constitutes a great game
